Hello, You have to remove the rear panel to extract the DSP board. I have a SR-6200, analog input (tuner, CD etc...) with s-direct mode in ON state (DSP circuit bypassed) sound is good, with s-direct mode in OFF state sound distortion, hissing and crakkling. Digital input work fine. I replace the DAC CS4391, it did'nt fixe the problem. I guess to replace the CS4228A chip but i dont no where to get it? Did you fixe yours? Can you help me? Thank's Pierre

CS4228A on DSP board can be overdriven on the inputs

CS4228A on DSP board can have shorted loads on the output

Check also the board (might be burnt also)

Onkyo sr 502 turn it on today but no sound will come out. checked connections and the modes are the same as before

first doing factroy setting by hold "VIDEO1", press STBY until you see "cleared". after that, if problem stay there, then check coil L7002 on DSP board if it is open. the last reason is main CPU (Q7008) defective. this is hard one and final one

No surround modes produce any sound . only have sound on s direct mode. marantz sr 5200

Not having the ability to look at it on the bench, more than likely your DSP chip is bad. If you have a local repair house that is willing to confirm that is the problem without charging you an arm and a leg, that's your best bet. It is an expensive repair, anywhere between 300 to 500. At that point, I would say to replace the unit. Sorry for the bad news, but that's my "best guess" The only other thing to check would be your "Audio input Settings" Make sure it's either on "Auto" or whichever type you are using. "Digital Coaxial", "Optical", or "Analog" (RCA) hope this helps! If you have any further questions, just post a reply and I can help further. Best of luck!

Marantz sr7200

Most likley, if I'm right, you have heard some staitcy, crackly noises, accompanied with this failure. If so, the problem is without a doubt on the D.S.P. board, witch is the one with the optical jacks on it, The culprits would then be I.C. 719 & I.C. 720. This is a common problem with this model, and the sr6200 & 5200 as well. A low tech method to confirm this is to touch IC 720 (the smaller one) while it's on. If you can keep your fingertip on it for at least ten seconds, it's ok, and the problem is elsewhere. If not, (IT WILL BE VERY HOT) the the board must be removed (27 screws from left to right) and replace BOTH IC719 & IC720.

Fx 5200 geforce graphic card

You did not mention if the board your running has an integrated video card on it. If it does & you have added the FX 5200 AGP you need to make a change in your bios. Set the bios to see AGP. Re-check the insertion of the AGP card. Remove the video card. Use a strong flash light & look into the AGP slot. Use canned air & blow out the AGP slot. Re-seat the video card evenly into the AGP slot. Try again.

Loss of volume on left channel

Marantz SR 5200/6200 lost audio or crackling on left or right channel except in mode s-direct is now fixed !
The root cause is a defective inegrated circuit on DSP board (the one with digital inputs). To fix it change the chip CS4391 by a new one or better by the improved version CS4392. On my device a capacitor was cut close to this IC : replace one 1uF after changing the IC. For any question search me with my callsing "F5RCT"; i have a spare IC for the one who is able to change it !
