Question about Nikon D70s Body Only Digital Camera

Nikon D70s Photos Not Crisp in Last 6 months

My D70s is about 2 years old. Only in the last 6 months have I noticed this problem. I have had my censor cleaned twice, once by Nikon. Nikon examined and returned my camera back to factory settings, but I'm still noticing the problem. My autofocus light comes on, but they are still not crisp. My setting are set to Fine and Large for photos. I mostly shoot in Manual. My ISO is at 400. It happens regardless of what lens I use. I can send examples. If it is user error, I am happy! to know that, I just need someone to help me dig through the possibilities. I believe I have a 6 month on the recent service by Nikon, but no warranty on the camera itself. I would love to find out that it's a setting on a menu, but I haven't done anything differently than I ever have.

I need help from someone who is willing to go back and forth with me on the possibilities. You can even lead me through some sample shots if necessary.

Is the mounting ring on the camera loose? Check the screws for tightness if you have the proper cross point screwdriver. Adjustment the CCD position screws is the common fix otherwise

I have recently noticed a very thin vertical line (primarily red) in the photos taken with my D70. Can you tell me the cause and the cure?

Cause - faulty CCD imager.
Cure - imager replacement.
It can be done only by Nikon authorized service center and if you're out of warranty - it will be expensive.

Sorry for the bad news.

For error d70s

Try formatting the cards in a PC before you put into the camera. Do the long format, not the quick. It will take some time, but give it a shot. If that doesn't work, buy new memory cards. Cards don't last forever, and it's not worth it to take pictures on a marginal card and then have them not work.

Trouble with memory cards

Yep, I solved mine by replacing the CF Pins at the bottom of the slot.

Soft or blurry photographs

I would try using a different lens. Check to see if there are any fingerprints on the lens, it could be dirty. The AF works thru the lens itself so if its dirty, that would cause out of focus images.

Was the camera dropped at any time, if so your autofocusing drive could be damaged. Send an email to Nikon and see if they can repair it for you.

Unfortunately, you may have a faulty flash pcb (printed circuit board) The part is around 50$ plus installation 200+ total repair cost. A work around would be to use an external flash unit from the hot shoe

If this is a small spot it can be a dust on the censor. To confirm take a snap of the plain clear wall. If there are spots on the picture then it can be from the dust on the censor. There is a procedure of cleaning dust from the censor in the user manual. Be extra carefull since the scratch or stain on the censor will ruine you camera
