When starting computer in the morning, the monitor display flashes analog then digital then back to analog and goes blank. Power to the monitor is on. Multiple on/off of power brings display back.

Hi, 12fixlouie here. LCD monitor may have intermittant solder joint on power supply board inside unit. May only need you to resolder it to fix. Locating it is a whole other problem in itself!!! If not into monitor "teardown" and all the other stuff that you will need to attempt a repair, then let me know right away. 12fixlouie

I was given a Xenon flat screen monitor. The back has 4 usb ports and 1 usb input and an analog rgb port. It came with no cables. Can I just use a usb cable or do i need the analog rgb cable? Also when I...

The USB hub/connections cannot be used for driving the monitor... It is only an extra feature so that you can connect USB devices (such as a mouse & keyboard or flash drive) at the monitor instead of the computer ports.

You must use the RGB/VGA connection to use the monitor.

When you turn ON the monitor, it should "announce" itself with a logo...

When you were given the monitor, were you told that it works?

Please connect the monitor and comment back...

No signal

You don't specify what kind of monitor, CRT, LCD, or even a TV attached to your system, you're using. It's likely the monitor is set to receive a certain kind of signal (either analog or digital) but it's receiving the other one instead. Before proceeding to the next steps, ensure the connections are solid and the the screws are set tightly and there's no movement.
Get your user's manual and learn how to navigate the monitor's menu in order to get to the setting where you choose Analog (for a VGA cable connection) or more commonly with LCD screens, Digital (DVI).
VGA and DVI connectors differ in shape and in the number and layout of their pins. If you're using a video card with a DVI connector (larger, more squarish D shape, with three separate sections of pins) then your monitor shoud be set to Digital. Else, your connector is VGA and thus your monitor should be set to Analog.
If both are in synch and you still do not get a signal, it's possible the video card has given out its ghost, since if you DO see the NO SIGNAL message displayed on your monitor, the monitor is Ok.
Good luck!

Seeing the word "analog" on your screen means the monitor has recognized video input on the vga "analog" input connection.
Most computers output "analog" vga (15 pin) which must be converted to digital for a flat panel monitor to display the image.
Many LCDs now have both analog and digital inputs.

Flashing green power light - Black screen

I had the same problem with an AOPEN 17' lcd that was left behind at a rental property... I plugged it into my dell dimmension 4400 in place of my old analog. It worked fine the fist night, and got up and when turned it on again it had the famed green blinking power light. I switched back to the analog, and just disappointed I plugged in the AOPEN to another power source, and power came on a steady red light. I plugged it back into the puta and it came on again. I have not turned the monitor off again for fear of the blinks, and has been working great for close to a week now. Hope it helps someone else out there. Richard

I was tring to Connect Two Computers to One Monitor, but i didnt get it, does someone know how to do so? I bought a KVM switch, USB to use between a new Acer running Win XP and old Dell with Win 98. Could...

I guessing that since **-one responded you've given up and returned the whole mess but what the hey.

A lot depends on the KVM you're using. There are some high end units that will match different sources to the monitor but most work best with matched input and output. Unless you's specifically states that it will convert analog to digital it won't. So if it's an analog KVM then both the computer video boards need to have an analog VGA jack and the monitor does too. If the KVM is ditital you need to have all the systems and monitor digital. Savi? The Monitor may support boath analog and digital input but NOT at the same time. You can't plug in two computers at the same time, that's what the KVM is for.

The bottom line here is that you typically need to run the least common de**minator to use a KVM. Also, if the computers have different frequency (resolution) out put and you hit the KVM switch then the monitor will freak out. Some monitors will auto-switch between frequencies but most don't (especially the cheapies).

There are adapters that will down convert digital to analog. If you're dead set on using the KVM with that old Dell then you may need to plug the down converter into the Acer Video Board but you'll loose the high resolution and sharp picture from the digital video. If it was me and I had to use the KVM, I'd get a cheap digital video card for the Dell or just run two monitors.

I run 5 systems on my desk, Three of which are older servers with analog video. They share an analog KVM with video and keyboard on the wall. The other two systems are current generation and share a KVM and 27" flat panel center desk. I also have a laptop that hangs on the other wall with a laser blue tooth keyboard on the other side of my desk. Now if my wife would only let me turn part of her craft studio into a server room.....

Switch from Analog to Digital

To move to Digital (you need to have a DVI cable for this)

I'm using the monitor now and typing these instructions Mine is a HW191D Silver:

Button Layout:

(1) Menu
(2) Auto Adjust (does nothing when in digital mode)
(3) Move up in menus
(4) Move down in menus
(5) Power

Press the Top (1) button to display the OSD Main Menu

The Press the button Next to the Bottom (4) twice (Input Setting should be highlighted)

Press the Top button (1) once to allow you to select between Analog and Digital (use the button next to the bottom (4) to select between the two)

Press the Top button (1) and it will change to the input that you selected.

If you selected Digital and you don't have a DVI cable connected, the display will go black and then return to Analog (VGA)

I hope that helps
