In Camera mode, only streaky vertical lines visible on screen

Its a fault with many of the canons,
they have NOT recognised it,
but you can get it fixed free by a third party company
(cant remember off hand which one soz)

Funny how they do it for free,
as if canon are paying them so they dont have to own up !!!

Red vertical lines/no picture

Hi there. Contact sony service centre directly and ask them about replacing the ccd. I have a vx2100 which did exactly the same thing. Sony admits that there was a problem with the ccd's used in these cameras and replaced them for free, maybe the same for your camera. good luck

Do you have a picture showing in the viewfinder when the LCD is closed? If not, it's a bad CCD and I believe Canon will fix that for free if you call customer service.

Only vertical Lines Appearing

You are one of the lucky ones with a defective ccd, the electronic chip in the lens assembly that makes the image. Actually if you ship this to JVC before October they are repairing this problem at no charge because of a batch failure with this part. Go to to get info. Good luck, magic seadog

Vertical lines

This is a defect in the CCD ( light sensor ) - check with Canon and they'll replace it free of charge even if the camcorder is out of warranty.
