Re: no sound from speakers

Try windows updates. if that doesn't work, then you can try to go to the manufacturer's website for a soundcard driver download.

Cd drive in my acer aspire x1700 doesn't open

You are going to need a paper clip. Look fo a small hole next to the switch. straighten the paper clip and put it in the hole in the center. carefully push to activate the mechansium to open the door. Then you can troubleshoot the door. Turn off the computer then pull the power cord from it. Open the computer case find the power cable to the cdrom/dvdcdrw and push it in to make sure you have good connection. If it still doesn't work after this then you can get a new drive for less than $30.00 (usd)

Hope this helps,

Only one speaker working - acer computer speakers

1 step: kindly check the connection of the left speaker if it is plugged to the right speaker properly.
2 step: Then check the balance under volume control if it has been set in the middle.
3 step: If possible check the speaker on some other device(cd player etc) other than your pc and see if the left speaker still doesn't have any sound.
if so kindly replace them

Acer speakers

hello, check the volume. also the jacks are color coded. green is speakers, pink is mic, blue is line in. if this does not help, consider adding sound card(this will give a better quality of sound than onboard sound) hope this helps! good luck, glen.

No sound

If it is a desktop then you need to purchase speakers & if a laptop then 90% there would beinbuilt speakers.
Before anything check if the sound is working on the system
Double Click on the speaker icon on the right bottom of the screen>>make sure in none of the mute boxes should be checked>>Now try to play any audio >> this can be tested by playing a song on the system
click the pearl sign on the left bottom>>click programmes>>Click windows media player>>put a cd and try playing it>>Play a file>>

well, if you put the green cable on the green connector on your sound card, you,ll be fine, and see if work, fine, depending on your configuration speakers, 5.1 or 2 way, you can test if the sound go on the 2 also check if something is bad with the other speakers

Can you help me?

happy holidays! Mullins...
As you know, you got a 7.1 sound card, so you have a 7.1 configuration sound speakers, too, or 5.1 then you are fine on that, IF you got ENABLE on BIOS your integrated sound you should be fine. so be on your mixer and see if all is on and volume up, test with a MUSIC CD, check cables and that be ok, but if apart from that you got no sound, or drivers are not installed correctly then have a problem with onboard audio, time to use the warranty, or RMS the system.
hope this help you decide.

Computer problem

Acer has a web site where you can download software for your Aspire 5580. Your Laptop has a intergrated sound chip, XP may not have installed the driver for your speaker/sound system. You can try downloading at the link below (page 2),"
Audio driver v.", or you can install your audio driver from the restore CD that came with the notebook. No restore CD's! This site has everything installed onto your notebook.
