Question about Procom QL300TYLA Heater

1 Answer

I have a ProCom FBN400TYLA vent free natural gas fireplace and want to convert to propane because the gas company wants too much money to hook up a line. Is this even possible?

Found the manual on line and copied directly from it:
WARNING
Models FBN400 are equipped for Natural
gas. Field conversion is not
permitted.
Models FBL400 are equipped for Propane
gas. Field conversion is not permitted

This should answer your question.
See if you can run the gas line or find someone to do it cheaper for you.

I bought an Insta Flame model FSDV 30 direct vent wall furnace, need a natural gas conversion kit. It currently is set up for propane and could use some help in finding the parts and installing them.

There is a ban on that particular furnace as they can explode!

You won't find parts or anyone that will work on it.

Black sot from vent free gas fireplace

Thanks for your question,
your problem is either impingement on your log set, or a product of incomplete combustion, if you notice soot on your logs, then you will need to take them out, clean them, and reinstall them as to not have the flame touching them, you will need to clean the burners as well, make sure nothing is laying across the burners, as this too will cause sooting, as far as incomplete combustion, was this model a natural gas converted to propane or the other way around ? if so who ever converted it, did they adjust the gas valve according to specs? improper adjustment will cause sooting or hooking up a natural gas unit to propane will do this too, I will recommend using (Rutland White Off) to remove any soot from your glass, it works fantastic for this ! any ace hardware will carry it, please do not use windex or any other cleaner on the glass as it will more than likely leave a rainbow affect on your glass once the glass heats up, hope this was helpful to ya, please rate this solution, thanks agai

Natural gas conversion

I have a similar problem. But, I want to convert it to propane. I have a 5 burner vent free modelMN300HPA. If your are handy. I would consider shipping you the parts inside mine to install in yours. These parts are very simple to remove after removing the access panels. I have taken mine out already. Called procom then to no less find out the propane parts needed are not sold by them. I think only the injectors (5) the main valve (regulator) and the pilot are the only things need to change. When taking out the pilot this is easly done, By removing the nut on the supply line. And then bending back the retaining tabs to then slide back the pilot then it comes out of the assembly bracket. Injectors are simply removed. Regulator located at the bottom is a simple remove. The only other item that might be questionable would be the valve that selects the amount of burners you would like to operate. And I would think this would be the same and not need removing. Let me know if I can help. I would like to get mine converted to propane. Thanks Tom

Empire makes a wall heater that is direct-vent that looks similar to vent- free wall heaters. Here is a link to a website that sells their products... http://www.mastersalesonline.com/empire/index.html. I am not sure of the prices you will need to call the on-line store. I hope this helps you.

It sounds like the orifice is missing or is the wrong type (LP) on the back burner.
