I just repaired one and all it is was a loose solder connection on the heater line to the picture tube. I soldered all connections including all the oins on the flyback trasformer. The set has been playing now for over an hour and before it would shut off in 10 to 30 seconds.

Before disassembling circuit board and resoldering flyback connections per the previous solution, try removing the small circuit board/connector on the end of the picture tube. Examine the pins on the tube for a blue coating. If it is present you will find that it is non-conductive and it should be removed from all pins by scraping carefully with a sharp tool. This coating was probably applied by the tube manufacturer to prevent oxidation of the pins during shipment and should have been removed by the TV set manufacturer prior to assembly. When the small board/connector was initially pushed onto the tube pins during manufacture, the connector probably scraped enough coating off of each pin to allow the tv to function properly at that time. But, due to the extremely small contact area at each pin and years of use, this coating may be the cause of contact failure during warm up, resulting in the self turn off problem.

I noticed and corrected this problem after disassembling the main circuit board and resoldering connections to the flyback transformer.

My opinion is that the coating on the picture tube pins is the real problem. I wish I would have noticed it before removing the main board and resoldering the flyback pins. It would have saved me a lot of work.

Hitachi 65f59 65 TV keeps shutting off

This set uses a number of green L.E.D.'s inside which are tied to different voltages---if you can watch them when set shuts off you are looking for one that goes out either quickly or after the others--points to area (voltage) where problem may be.

Other visual indications are screen changes red, green, blue right at shutdown and sound and brightness then both vanish=shutdown circuit being triggered to protect the set.

TV displays RGB code and then displays, no signal and then shuts off. What does the RGB code mean?

It means the source is not set correctly. Switch the source to input 0 (cable or antenna depending on your particular set up).

My tv will work for like 5 min then it shuts off

Hello,

Sound like you have a overheating problem. Your capacitors might have reached their end of life thus making them overheat quickly. Try to check if there is a fan inside your TV. If there is a fan, try to clean it see if that helps.

I hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Tv turns on but no picture. Then Tv shuts off by itself.

Try turning it on again and quickly press the source button several times until the source menu on the screen appears. Keep trying this method, and if the tv does not do anything then it needs to be serviced. If the tv turns on and functions normally after this wacky method then your power supply is developing a problem....its probably a bad capacitor or TO style diode.

No Power, standby light blinking, power cord in/out two quick clicks

sounds to me to be a shorted HOT transistor or short somewhere. the click sound is the switch mode power suppy powering up sensing a short and quickly shuts down. the hot transitor is mounted to a heatsink near your flyback. check for emitter to collector short. you can try replacing it if shorted and if lucky that all that was ..but if shorts again you looking at probably a bad flyback. good luck
