I think I've got it (famous last words) but you aren't going to like it.  I'm running linux and that has it's own issues with keeping the GUI working but I noticed the 1100 also locks up in Windows.  Latest BIOS.  Tried the fresh heat sink paste, cleaned the fins, even running a CPU low-impact GUI called Xfce.  Fan control is good.  Still froze.  Now I've gone several boots and hours without a freeze.  How?  Remove the Flash player.  Told you you wouldn't like it.  I've been running the (linux) Epiphany browser and haven't had a freeze since.  I think the people who speculate that the on-board video has a design flaw or overheats are on the right track.

Check to see if your laptops overheating. Check to see if the fan/heatsink assembly is clogged..

Run chkdsk /r from your command prompt, let it reboot to run..

I just bought a all in one hp &turn it on and say operating system not found ran test error#BIOHD-8

That diagnostic indicates that the hard drive is failing. If you just bought this new, I would suggest returning it for another one. If you bought it used, I'd try to get a refund.

I have an ASUS K8V-VM motherboard. I recently upgraded the memory to 2GB of DDR400 (2 1GB sticks) It ran fine for the first 3 or 4 days then started having problems booting. After changing the memory back...

One bad lead will cause your computer to shut down or continue in a cycle
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to your hard drive
hope this helps

My Dell Inspiron 6000 has Samsung Model MP0603H hard drive. The computer was working fine till this morning when it would not boot. I ran diagnostic using the Dell CD and the results stated: Error Code...

Those codes all apply to the hard drive itself..

Replacing the hard drive is all you should have to do.

Below is a link to a brand new hard drive that will work in your Inspiron 6000

It means "DST Log contains previous error(s)."
Dell Support says “If the diagnostic test reports one of the above errors, refer to Dell Troubleshooting Wizard: "Hard Drive Fails the Diagnostics" Wizard ID: 324398”

Hard deive / non-system errod when running recovery CD's

Hi,

My name is Armymason, have you thought about running a hardware diagnostic test? Do a search on the internet for a free one and check to see if the hard drive is bad.

Thanks,
