You hook it up to the computer, and when your computer says, device plugged in and it will bring up a menu and click folder files, and delete them by right click and then click delete

Hi rhorne789...
Try this method to delete what you do not want on your MP3 player.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIG WARNING: DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
ONE MORE BIG WARNING: BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.

I have a Sony walkman (16 GB) and don't know how to delete all the songs on it, so I can start over. Please help

You have to use Windows to delete songs off of the player. If using content transfer you just select the music folder and check the boxes of everything you don't want and then press delete. If using Windows Media Player 11, go to the sync tab and select your walkman. Delete anything you don't want.

Another option is to format the entire thing but that will erase everything that is on there.

Is there a way to delete music off my computer without loosing the music on my mp3

Yes just delete the music from your computer. It should not effect your player even if you hook back up. Sony has two programs that you can install on your computer to help you manage your stuff, Check out this link. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=NWZE438F&SelectOS=27#div_pos_133

Can the factory loaded music and pictures be?

You can format the player which will remove everything off of the player including your stuff, so back it up. You can do this by going into the players settings menu and select format. When it ask you if you are sure, select yes and let it format. After that, the device will be fresh to go with no factory loaded stuff on it.

Press and hold [VOL+] whilst connecting the SA6045 to the PC.

Continue to hold until the PC tells you to let go.

Follow the on-screen prompts.

This will format you player and restore the firmware.
