SOURCE: the camcorder is on and the lens cap is removed

I have a JVC camcorder and have had it fixed 3 times for the same problem, I would suggest setting it up for service. I am glad I bought the extra warranty with mine.

This could be two things:
1. CCD has failed or
2. Lens unit connection to main pcb has failed

Lens cap?

Try removing the battery, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. That may reset the lens cap sensor.
