I am starting to get NO SIGNAL blue screens using vip211

I am starting to get NO SIGNAL blue screens using HDMI with the VIP211 . sometimes the green light will flicker on / off real fast , then jsut die off , sometimes it will turn on , and actually acquire sat signal , then bam 5 min later, off to blue screen again . I gave it a good hard tap on top of the unit and it turned back on and has been working since, think i just need to get em to bring me a new one ? somethin must be loose in there...... I've tried running the power from it straight to outlet , ran through power surge protector , and through extension cord , all 3 gave me same results. Also it seems alot of channels the lyp sync is way off . this vip211 sucks or just dish network sucks with HDMI hdtv , what do you think ,

Hi Krichel Thereis a couple of things we can do to fix these issues so you can watch yourprogramming without interruption. The first thing you want to do is make sureall connections are tight and secure. Then push MENU-6-1-1 on the remote andyou will see Check Switch tab on the top right and select Test. After the testcompletes you will want to clear out of all the menus and let the receiverrequire the signal and you will have your programming and the lips will be in sync.

Your vip211 may have been forcing a software update if the green light was blinking but you for sure have problems if it still has the same issue, just call dish and have them send you a new one. The vip 211 is a great recvr, you can hook up an external hard drive and have a DVR with no DVR fee, however there is a one time cost of 39.95 to activate your Hard drive but witht eh issues you have ben having they would more than likely waive this cost for you. i would for sure ask if you need to replace the receiver.

ViP211-HD DVR button won't work.....can't record any channels.....also the 'record' button doesn't respond either......

Hello, my name is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network. I'm sorry about any inconvenience, but the ViP211 is not a DVR receiver. If you have an external hard drive, you can activate the feature on the 211 to allow you to record movies to the external hard drive. It is a one time $40 to activate the external hard drive feature. Also, we can always look at getting a DVR receiver installed to replace the 211. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at

Getting no signal from DishNetwork ViP211 reciever. green light is flashing continuously

Hello, my name is Becki Barned, and I'm with Dish Network customer service. The issue that you have here is, the receiver si rebooting. This process can last up to four hours. If it goes on for more than four hours, then you have a power issue. It does help to unplug the receiver for 10 seconds. If your receiver is not connected straight to the wall, go ahead and try to connect it to a power outlet on the wall. If that doesn't work, and if your issue has not already been resolved, blog back and we can help further.

I have a Zenith R57W46 TV, I am trying to connect the HDMI (From a Dish Network VIP211), to the DVI connection on the rear panel of the set, I purchased a cable that is HDMI on one end and DVI on the...

You are infact doing everything correct. More to the point and sad to say, it is the HDCP which is causing your problem. There are long drawn out explanations regarding upscaling and resolutions regarding your TV set, but to be brief, there is no proof that connecting via HDMI or DVI will actually produce any better a picture on your set than component cables. I have a sort of similar issue with my samsung 65 rear projection Tv and my PS3. The ps3 has HDMI out and my TV had DVI in, but it actually has a better picture without using those connections. I tired with an adapter for HDMI to DVI and it did work, but nothing of great quality that I had expected. With the right component cables and the correct set up on your TV, your picture should still look very sharp. I hope this helps and good luck.

Vip211 will not power up, no green light or signal?

Hi johnmcmillan with thereceiver not powering up we can try a few things to get the power on. Firstthing you will want to do is make sure the receiver is plugged directly intothe wall. If the receiver is plugged into the wall and the green light is noton you can do a reset by unplugging the power cord from the receiver for 10seconds and plug it back in. I will leave a link to help with this.
