Question about Whirlpool Dryers
Look for a wear sign on the frame of the dryer, and also the wear on the idler arm with pulley. The wear on the frame will tell you where it goes, and the wear on the idler arm will tell you which way it faces.
Also after you determine where the bracket goes,. then reinstall the spring into the hole on the bracket and move it around to see where it might attach, there should be a small amount of wear where the spring will attach to the frame.
I will include a website that has a repair manual for this dryer, it would be a wise choice to get one if you plan to keep and work on this dryer, it will pay for itself in tech costs.
Check under repair manuals
I hope this helps
