SOURCE: drive gear in motor got tore up, put new gears in motor. now makes a grinding noise. teeth inside the ring gear look ok no distortion tried 2 other motors from other good working machines same problem

Not sure what your question is here other than stating what is already known, that rigid is a low cost cheaply built brand of tool.

Runs Rough

The noise you have is armature failure from bearing failure or shortening out from burnt/ worn brushes. It may be poling out from failed bearings/bushes or you have a short in one of the bars in the commutator bars. Have an appliance electrician check it out.

I was working with the dremel and it shut down and would not turn back on, the motor was not hot. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the brushes in the side of the motor housing?

My dremel started doing that too. If I rubbed the sanding drum along a piece of wood, it would start up again. I think the brushes and the copper armature get glazed over with non conductive dust and possibly insulation smoke which disconnects it enough to stall out. Change the brushes to the new ones in the kit. After a year of heavy use mine slowwed down to about 300 rpm and then died. A very nice tool but I prefer the Makita which is about three times this size just because it is longer lived.

I have a dewalt dw364 circular saw. the motor is running slower and sparking internally. The motor also starts smoking while using. A suggestion was to replace the brushes.

I agree with replacing the brushes, and don't use it until you do, so no damage is done to the motor. If it is smoking there is some overheating. Best regards and good luck.

Motor will not start on my Ridgid table saw

Check the brushes and the commutator for wear and buildup between the insulated areas of the commutator..It should be clean and not full ofcopper residue. That will make the motor click only upon triggering the starter switch

How do you get to the motor for the ridgid wet dry vac model #WD 12450

the manufacture does not replace the brushes...depending hon how old it is you might be able to get the powerhead replaced. The motor is made in China. I heard of some guy cross refrencing the motor brushes at ACE hardware if you can believe it
