All discs will not play. Sounds like it is trying to read but after a minute or it goes to the next disc. After all discs are addressed in this manner, it says there are no discs in machine. What may be the problem and how do I solve it? Thanks!

I tried to contact Julianfix directly but did not see any method to do so on this site.
    Unfortunately
the issue is not with the optical reader lens. I cleaned the lens and
then tested it with the cover off. The disc would not spin. I spun
the disc by hand and it worked. I tried again and it still would not
spin until I did it manually. I repeated this sequence several times.
I then let it spin for about 15 minutes. I replaced the cover and
reconnected the unit to my AV system. The motor hung again. I reached
in and spun the motor by hand. I then attempted to play the disc and
it worked. I believe the motor is weak or not getting sufficient
voltage and that the issue will present itself again. Do you have any
suggestions other than replacing the motor assembly (not sure what is
included in the assembly)? If replacement is necessary, do you have
any suggestions as to where I may find parts? Thank you very much for your time and
    help!

I hope that I have finally found a way to respond to Julianfix somewhat directly.

I am sure I could if I removed the cover and spun the disc while in the play position. Do you have any suggestions other than replacing the motor assembly (not sure what is included in the assembly)? After trying to load disc, message says "cannot play disc" , the machine was previously playing the same disc without issue.

Its time to service ur player. If it reads some discs and some it doesn't read, then switch it off for 10 minutes, let it be on cool mode. Turn it on, try diff discs. If still same, then you may take it to any local tech store for a service.

5 disc cd changer CC4000 will not read

All players need cleaned from time totime. Do NOT try to clean it with anything other than a CD / DVD lens cleaner. They are available almost everywhere that sellsBlank media. It will clean the lens without scratching or smearing it.

My DVD player / recorder keeps kicking out the discs I put in. It won't even read them. the screen says close and the tray comes back out almost immediatly. Now it's gotten so bad that the tray won't come...

How old is your DVD recorder/player?
It sounds like it needs a service!
The usual problem with DVD players/recorders not reading discs is that the laser output is starting to fail - and consequently the laser light emitted is insufficient for the system to "read" through the minute "holes" in the disc.
It's possible to have the laser replaced, but this would cost you at least £50, depending on where you live.

Initially, you could try buying (or borrowing) a laser cleaning disc. These cost around £3 to £5 depending on where you buy & live, and have a small brush on the lower side of the disc. Insert this into your player and run the disc for a couple of minutes. If there are any dust particles that have been blocking the light output from your laser head, then this may remove it and might solve the problem.

If this fails, then it seems likely that the laser head is not producing enough output and would have to be replaced with a new one.

Also, you could try playing a CD on your DVD player as these discs contain far less information than a video disc (DVD) and the laser head may be able to cope with this.
If the CD plays ok, then you will know that the reason why it won't play DVD's is the light output has started to fade due to the age or excess use of your system.

Won't read disc

sounds like the laser's stuffed. the lasers in those machines are notoriously bad. you'd best be careful. a dodgy laser will cause laser-burn to the discs. i had the same thing on my machine. i could play a couple of games, then there was some that would work after i took them out and put them in, several times. after fixing the laser, ive not had the problem again.

My 14" dvd combi player wont read any disc i put in. The only thing that happens is that the main screen says reading disc then about 1 minute later is says please insert a playable disc. I have tried...

The optics can not read the disc. Try cleaning the lens inside using a cotton swab and alcohol. Also try playing a music CD. If the CD plays but a DVD continues to fail, the opticsl will need to be replaced. Depending upon the specific model, this could cost anywhere from $50-$120.

DVD stop playing after 20 minutes

Hi Liorpe,

It is possible the Laser is not sliding all the way up and down its rails. Lint , dust, screws sometimes get in the way of the lasers travel to completely read a disc. They do start at the center of the disc and read outward. Sounds like if it will do 20 minutes or so and then quit, its not a heat problem so much as your laser has only 20 minutes of dvd play travel on it rails before it gets stuck. Seen it bunch.
