Hold your function key down (should be a different color than the alphabet keys (on my acer it is blue and abreviated Fn) anyway hold your function key down and press one of your "F" keys, mine is F6. try em all but remember to press them twice if they dont turn on your monitor so you undo whatever setting you changed.

How to connect laptop to external monitor

Your HP laptop should have a video out port somewhere - it might be a VGA or HDMI, see the manual for your laptop.
If you are lucky your Bush will have a matching connector
Buy a cable of the correct type to connect your laptop to the monitor. If the connectors 'match' this is easy, or else you will have to seek out adaptors/adaptor cables.
Use the cable connect the laptop to the monitor.

There is one more thing you have to do, and that is direct the laptop's video output to the correct output port. On my HP laptop, and a number of other laptops, there is function button for this: press it once and the screen will appear both on the monitor and the laptop, press it again and your laptop screen will go off but the picture will be displayed on the monitor, press it again and the picture will appear on your laptop's screen but not on the monitor

Monitor is cracked. Have hooked up a Monitor still cannot get signal. I am guessing there are some buttons on the laptop keyboard that I need to press. Can you help please?

By default, the external monitor connector is turned off. Hold down the Fn key and press F4 to enable the external monitor. If you look closely at the F4 key you'll see it has a little picture of a monitor screen on it. Full information about the other keyboard functions is here at HP.

Dell 1525 lights flash when power button is pushed but no

Even if the hard drive is bad you should still see the normal bios post screens and then an error message saying "no boot device found" or something similar. If you have a monitor in your home you should attach the vga cable from it onto the vga connection on that laptop. Then turn on the laptop and see if you get a picture on that monitor. If you do then either the laptop lcd inverter is bad or the lcd itself is bad. If you don't get a picture you may have to press a toggle button or buttons on the laptop to switch to the external lcd. Usually this is Fn plus another F button on the top.

My HP Pavillion laptop turns on but the screen doesn't show.

You could be expierencing a problem with your monitor screen. try this.... connect another monitor screen to the VGA port of your laptop. Now try booting up. Look for and push Fn + the key that turns on a secondary display. if the monitor screen comes on. you need
another laptop monitor. At least you can use your laptop with the second monitor for now.

Need help with projector. can't get it to work, but I know it's me. Now, I can't get my remote monitor to work. I may have pushed the wrong button. I have an HP Elitebook 8350 and the new projector is...

There will be a function key that allows you to swap what monitor the display comes up on. On my HP its the blue (fn) function key with f4. This should swap display between laptop monitor and external or show up on both.
Other things to check are that the projector is powered on and plugged in before the laptop powers up.
Also check resolution of laptop display it may not be compatible with the projector.

I have a dell lattitude LS when i press the SLEEP button on my laptop iy does not sleeps

Sleep button may be disabled. Go to control panel and double click "POWER OPTIONS" find the control property that says "When i push the sleep button on my computer..." this should give you the idea.

OR keyboard drivers were not installed properly on your laptop. Go the the dell website and download the necessary drivers for your laptop keyboard to enable the buttons.

Hope this helps!
