Sounds like your onboard video card is gettin hot. Clean the dust out of your system (dissasemble if nessesary) check the fans and make sure they are clean and clean your heatsinks im sure this will solve your problem. Also you can buy cooling pads for laptops to sit on. They are usb powered so no extra wires YAY. good luck

I do not think that this a driver problem
It is probably a peripheral problem or at worst a power supply problem
However try and switch monitors first.

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop. The touch pad does not work.

Unless it is a hardware fault open the control panel>system>mice and uninstall the touchpad. Then rebott. It should solve the problem.

Laptop battery charge indicator flashing amber and green

If the battery is hot from being used in your computer or being in a hot environment, the battery may not charge when you connect the computer to an electrical outlet. The battery is too hot to start charging if the batter15.jpg light flashes alternately orange and green. Disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet and allow the computer and the battery to cool to room temperature. Then connect the computer to an electrical outlet to continue charging the battery.

Dell XPS M1710 - Screen flickers at times when playing games

hi,
reboot your system and at the blue dell logo tap the F2 Key, and now you will be at the bios screen

check if you get these lines at this screen on the screen and if you get these lines here as well, you might have a hardware problem call dell technical support for this, they will run a few diagnostics and if needed replace the faulty hard ware.

Black screen

It sounds as though the screen went out if you have access to a monitor and you have a vga plug on your computer try to hook it up to the other monitor and see if you are able to see anything. Sometimes when you hook up to an external monitor you will need to push the associated funtion keys. like i said if images show up then it is the screen on the laptop. If nothing shows up then it is the video hardware. If this is the case you will probably need to buy a new notebook since these are not normally changeable.
