Try to plug in your laptop with the cable and test if it downloads as fast as when the desktop is plugged in... wireless is less stable than wired connection... a lot of factors might affect your wireless connection...

It all depends on the package & line speed you choose from your ISP ( Internet Service Provider )

http://www.speedtest.net/ this site will give an idea of your connection speed to the internet

the download size is 2.1gb so u can work it out after doing the test

I'm uploading a video with 20.9MB..the result is too long and it can't upload to my facebook

Hi there,
What is your Internet Speed? it could be because the bandwidth is too small to upload the file..try going to www.speedtest.net so you can test the download and upload speed. Otherwise, you might want to try using another computer or check if your Internet Service Provider offers a better deal.
Hope this helps!

Router getting a very weak conection

First things first, take the roouter completely out of the picture. Connect you PC directly to the Modem. That is wall > modem > PC

is the connection still weak?

Do a speed test connected this way: http://www.speedtest.net/

If you get the download speed your ISP said you would, then we have a good place to start. If not, make sure ALL phones plugged into ANY socket in the house have filters on them.

run the speed test again... if still slow, call your ISP and complain, you are paying for a service, it is up to them to provide you that service.

If you are getting your download speed, then reattach the router : wall > modem > router --- wireless.

do the download speed test again, is it different? If it is, then you need to tweak your wireless settings.

Your ISP will have detailed support pages on your equipment and how to best configure it.

If not, perform the tests above, and if nothing jumps out at you, then provide more detail and list another question.

Good luck and don't forget to vote.

Fast download but slow upload. 2.0mb up and .05 down. Whats up with that?

its not the problem with the router, that download and upload speeds are monitored by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) so check with your ISP.

upload & download speed depends on ISP also, or may be the technical problem in the router.

Slow Speed Paaying for High Speed

Go to this site:
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

do a speed test and compare it to what your ISP says is within their tolerance for your type of high speed service. Let me clarify that a little, you may be paying for 1.5 down and the ISP may say that you can be between 1.3 and above for them to consider it ok. If you are out of range contact your ISP.
