Tap with a hammer - a little WD-40 or Liquid Wrench - tap some more.

Good luck with this "sticky" problem.

depending on where you buy your hitch, a salesperson versus online. but if you get a chance to stop by a camper place and ask what size they recommend. There are a multitude of sizes and styles. like I have a 1 ton dually with the pin in the bed of the truck while my international 4700 has a small semi style plate with the ball ( kingpin) on the trailer. best to see what they would recommend. no obligation and information is free.

What size gooseneck hitch do I need to tow my fifth wheel

check with your local trailer shop but I thing that it will be around 65 mm or 2 1/2 " ball
it is bigger than the standard 2' ball for normal bar hitch
they come is two forms
one is a mini version of a heavy vehicle turn table and the other is a large version of a ball that is locked in place when coupled
it will depend on the type you have
but talk with a trailer shop to get the regulatory size for what you are towing

Trailer hitch pops off ball

Either the coupler is worn (replacement parts exists), or the ball is too small for the coupler you have. Both the ball and coupler need to be like-sized.

Some people wire trailer plugs differently. If the plug is not wired differently than yours, make sure the tow ball is clean. No rust. That's where the trailer gets its ground from. Usually they will work if thats the case, but not right. I can't remember what the wire colors are right now. Go to etrailer and look up the diagram.

What size ball does it take to pull trailer

the hitch vin located at the front usually has those specs. 2 inch is most common for trailer balls. most hitches unbolt from trailer you can remove it and take it to an auto zone or such a parts house to match it up. they are usually held together with 3 bolts

possible that the ball size is wrong for the tow hitches
they do come in two sizes and there is just enough difference to allow movement at the ball

I think the tongue weight rating on the stock hitch is 600 lbs, so you are over that. You probably want to level out truck to handle better when towing, so the best way is to get air bag helper that raises the back end.

Both the ball and the trailer hitch should be grounds so I'm guessing the trailer brakes have a hot wire touching the frame somewhere but not enough to blow a fuse. Before connecting the hitch to the ball, have someone press the trailer brakes and check between the hitch and the ball with a volt meter for 12 volts. If you do then something is wrong with the trailer brakes. I'm just guessing though.

check for signal ground, this is not a metal ground, use a test light or volt meter to see if they at plug before you plug in the trailer, you may need to rewire the trailer.
