Connecting to wireless signal is not the same as connecting to the internet. Verify the wireless router itself is connected. Your internet provider may be off line.
This is worked for me on Vista: 1. Goto Network and Sharing Center. 2. Click on your Wireless Connection "View Status". 3. Click on Propertes. 4. Uncheck the option that says "Internet Protocol Version 6"
On the bottom right hand side of the desktop you will see the wireless icon, right click on that ans click on troubleshoot problems. This will reset the adapter and assign an IP address for your your PC.
You dont need a driver for the wireless router. If your laptop can recieve wireless signal(from a wireless router) all you need is an active internet connection, configure the laptop and router to distribute the internet, you're good to go.
If your laptop cant recieve a wireless signal from a wireless router then you might need a USB Wifi Dongle.
Is your laptop wireless adapter correctly configured? It may be set to only recieve certain types of signals (802.11b, when you may beed 802.11g etc), so check if the configuration of the laptop matches the configuration of the router.
To test if the laptop can get internet at all, try to get to a wired internet line (your wireless router may have some Ethernet ports on the back; laptops usually have Ethernet connectivity), just incase your laptop is set to block all internet signals coming in.
