Replace a key pad on pavilion zd8000 Problem

You just need to replace the keyboard and or the palmrest assembly.

It's a hardware issue that's all.

Post another question to see if someone has a service guide for this model.

Or google to see if you can find one yourself.

Parts are relatively cheap and easy to find on eBay.

The most common reason that your cursor skips around is that you are touching the touch pad when typing. Some are more sensitive than others. On my Toshiba I had that problem, but it has a Fn key that allows me to turn off the touchpad. Problem went away when I went to a mouse instead.
Had a client with a Dell with the same problem. I had to actually physically disconnect the touchpad and her problem went away.
Now as for the first problem, (the HP), I'd say you have a stuck key on the keyboard. It would make that noise.

Take the key off and check the depressor. Be gentle and try to remove only the key and leaving the retainer. If the depressor has moved or is stuck in a depressed position, this will cause your problem. If the depressor is good, then I'm afraid your keyboard has malfunctioned and will need replaced.

Probably the keyboard you got is defective. I have seen buttons working in very bad conditions. When a key doesnt work or several is bad news.

Try to get a replacement. Since you have already reseated this simply check if the flex cable is properly locked, (ear plugs or similar) and not moving.

No, its easy to do it yourself. You should not have too much of an issue. I would stick to a factory keyboard to avoid any incompatibility issues.
