Hi I have 2 pairs (4) of Bose 901 with 1 equalizer for the bose.. ?? Which amps or receiver you recommend is the best for this speakers. My main options is to listen music in my studio Thank you

Which version? Early 901s were acoustic suspension, later ones ported. Ported speakers are more efficient and therefore require less power. For the AS type go with at least 100 wpc. Brand doesn't much matter. If buying new, get a respected name brand such as Onkyo (best bang for the buck IMHO), Yamaha, Denon, etc. If going vintage consult the folks at There is a Bose section there.

I own a CERWIN-VEGA V-12S 12" Front Firing V

You may have only messed up the crossover circuit. Try changing the crossover frequency and see if hte behavior changes. If so, then the parts cost should be minimal. If the behaviorr remains the same, there will need to be more investigation done internally. This is not a problem that is likely to be easily resolved remotely. Can you update this with your location? I may be able to provide a recommendation for a service shop.

I have a pair of bose 901 speakers with an onkyo 100 watt amp. the amp is going out i think what is a good replacement?

My $.02: anything strong and clean. I'm partial to Carver amps and have run mine with double M-440 cubes bridged to 400 watts per speaker at one time. Right now I'm pushing them with a single Carver M-100T (100 wpc) and it sounds as good without being dangerous.

I have a new house that had speakers built into the cieling. I bought an onkyo to push all eight speakers. the reciever went into protect mode. i had an old reciever and hooked four speakers to the onkyo...

you can check them with a ohm meter, hook it to the wires that you hook to the reciever and if you get a reading it is good if no reading it is bad wires

Bose 901 speaker with eq

You want them to be your Main Front speakers, right? The news is not good.

There will be some limitations because you can't extract 'processed' L-R from this receiver. The following will give you good stereo and Front L-R from the 901's but it won't allow central volume control or send them any of the DSP effects you may select. Sorry. If it had a Front L-R Pre-Out you'd be good to go for all functions and listening modes.

You'll need a separate stereo amplifier WITH ITS OWN VOLUME CONTROL for the 901's to accommodate the need for the Active EQ. Modest amps would work but at very loud volumes may go into clipping, which is bad for any speaker. I'm using only 100W for mine and it has plenty of steam for the 901's.

With this receiver we have to cheat to get the Front L-R signal out to the 901's (but it's unprocessed and at a steady volume level)...

For connection I would run a pair of RCA cables from the VCR/DVR Audio Out L-R OUT jacks (*) to the Active EQ's Line IN; then the EQ's Line OUT to a separate amp's Line IN. Attach the 901's to the new amp.

* You'll lose the ability to use these jacks for anything else, but few of us use them anyway. DO NOT select this function for monitoring or you lose all audio in the Onkyo.

Cannot hook eq to my receiver

The speakers will not sound right. You dont have two tape monitors on this receiver? You can simply use the tape otput to the EQ input, and then the Tape monitor input to the EQ output leads. Good Luck
