Question about Jenn-Air JED8430 Electric Cooktop

1 Answer

We had a power bump and now the main display will not function completely. We can turn on the oven and select the temp the display reads "Preheat" when the oven reaches temp it goes to heat and stays on and we can turn it off with the cancel button. The other button on the display will not operate so we cannot set the time, clean the oven or anything involving the buttons. The top burners work. It sounds like some sort of power device needs attention. What do we do?

We had a power outage and now the oven will not come on the rest of the stove works inckuding the clock the preheat and oven lights come on but the oven does not heat up, we have tried turning off the

My guess is the element in the back of the oven took that moment to die. You will have to get an appliance engineer or good DIY electrician to check the supply to the element to be sure. While you have it out you can write down the serial numbers etc off the label on the back. You will need them to purchase a new element. Just go online to an appliance spares specialist.

Electrical panel does not work

Hey John, this is JK. I understand that the display on your range is not working. You may have a faulty Electronic Oven Control (EOC). Please confirm there is power to the appliance. If there is no power verify that the power cord is properly attached to the unit, plugged into a dedicated outlet correctly, and that the circuit breaker/fuse is not tripped or blown. Also verify the power at the plug is correct. Is the time of day displayed when the clock button is pressed? Are you able to turn the clock OFF or ON? When the display is turned OFF the time of day will re-appear for a few seconds any time the pad is touched. To toggle the display ON or OFF, press and hold the CLOCK button until the control beeps once (about 15 seconds). If all of these suggestions pan out and the problem still persists, think about what may have happened prior to this occurrence. For instance, did you notice any error codes, odors, or other strange functions prior to this issue? If you are still having these issues and can think of anything in particular, please feel free to reconnect. Hope this helps!

Main oven does not heat at all

Sounds like the heating/starter element went out. This item is very delicate and will break if touched. They are used on almost all newer gas appliances. It takes about 3 minutes to check. Turn the oven on and look down near the burners with all of the lights in the room out. You should see a glow for a while, then it will click off for a while and then come back on. If not, then turn off the oven and get a flashlight and look for the starter element to see if it is broken. It is about one inch wide, two inches long, and 1/4 inch thick. If you do get a glow then this is good news, the element is not broken. However, the element operates a thermostatic switch which operates the gas valve. This switch may be broken. The switch and the starter element usually come out together when removed.

Whirlpool oven code E2F3, and oven never gets up to the correct temp.

The thermostat in the oven itself needs replacing. Unfortunately, you'll probably need to get a professional in to do this job.

I have a 2003 gas oven, model #JGBP28BEK3WH. All the top burners kick on but the oven doesn't. I can set the oven to preheat but so far it never lights. Please help.

You probably have a bad ignitor in your oven. The gas will not turn on until the ignitor glows red hot - less resistance and more current for valve to open. This can be replace by a repairman or a tool savvy homeowner. If you call a repair man, your looking at 150.00 to 200.00. Part can be from 50.00 to 110.00. I usually charge 110.00 plus the price of the ignitor.

F7 Error

This error happens if a function (key) is stuck. Usually the one that is used most often or the one that someone poked using something pointed.

Change the touch pad if it is separate from the clock (ERC or EOC) or change the whole clock if they are one unit
