This alarm clock radio features an adjustable display backlight, with dim, medium, and bright settings. To select a backlight setting, press the Snooze/Dimmer Bar until the desired brightness is reached.
I got the iH8 as a present everything works fine except for the ipod alarm. the unit will play my music when i press the play ipod button, and recognizes its plugged in, but when i set the ipod alarm, without taking out the ipod or anything, it doesnt go off with my music, it just buzzes. Idont think it is the ipod because i have updated the software on the ipod and have even tried 3 different ipods with the iH8. i have had the iH8 for about 2 weeks and set it nearly every day, and out of all those times it has gone off with my music only 3 times. How do i get it to work every time!??
I would send the unit in to Bose. They have a flat rate repair service and they offer trade in value if you want to upgrade to a newer model. quoted from http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/customer_service/shopping/return_and_exchange.jsp
Call 1-800-999-2673 to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA)
number. This number helps us quickly track the status of your return
Pack the product in its original box. If you do not have the original
box, mention this to the customer service representative when you call
Write the RMA number clearly on the outside of the box
Be sure to use a package-shipping
service such as United Parcel Service, Federal Express or the United
States Postal Service that is able to track shipments. Ship the package
You will need to send it back to the manufacturer for repair for this. No doubt the LCD backlight has either burnt out of has a bad soldier connection inside. This can also happen if the unit has been dropped.
The display on my clock is red as well. I found it that way when I came home from work today. It had lost all of its settings as well. I put everything back to the way it was supposed to be but I can't get the color to change. I guess something just quit.
Here is the link to the user manual;
They do not mention any backlight feature in the manual - looking at other similar models, they describe the procedure in the manual - you just have to press the snooze button to turn it on or off. might be worth a try.
reading reviews of the clock there is supposed to be a blue backlight feature - try pressing display when in radio or cd mode and you should get a menu of display options - i imagine one of these will allow you to select backlight on/off
If none of the above works then try contacting them directly (numbers are in the manual) check this link if you want more info as they are recently bought out)
Hope this helps :)
