Dewalt Emglo 55168 motor starts to slow down as pressure builds to about 30 PSI. It really starts to labor. Any thoughts as to what could be causing the motor to strain and slow?

Most likely in tank check valve is leaking or belt is slipping. Belt tension easy to check, should not deflect with thumb pressure. Check valve should not let air escape out of tank. Easy to check. Run compressor till pressure builds to around 50 psi. Then unplug machine from power outlet. Listen for air leaking out of tank. In bad cases, air will actually leak out of intake filter. Replace check valve as needed. Good luck

My compressor will not go over 20 psi i have a craftsman 921 4 gal 125 psi compressor and it will not build past 20 psi i do not know how to get to the pistons and stuff what do i do?

The problem with compressors not building pressure is usually a bad pressure switch or bad regulator. Does the motor shut off at 20psi or does it continue running and not build pressure? If the motor continues to run with no increase in pressure, the you should go over the machine looking for air leaks from your regulator back all the way to the motor. Any air leak while the compressor is running can cause the pressure to "peak" way before the intended shutoff that it is regulated to.

Will not allow me to regulate air. compressor kicks on and builds to max pressure.

All air compressors build pressure in the tank(s) to their maximum allowed by the pressure switch. The regulator only controls the pressure of the air available at the outlet. That's why they have two pressure guages, one for tank pressure and one for outlet pressure. If you cannot control the air pressure at the outlet then you have a defective/broken regulator. Dewalt does not make the regulator as a seperate part for their air compressors, you have to buy the entire manifold which includes a regulator to fix this problem.

D55152, left gage shows 40psi, right gage 100. Whats going on. how can i buy a manual? thanks

The right guage is the actual tank pressure. The left guage is the pressure for the air hose. If you turn the adjustment dial the air pressure guage on the left will go up or down. You should be able to go to the dewalt website and find an owners manual for this compressor. I personally own this compressor and it is a good one.

I have had this problem intermittently - often it occurs if I left the compressor pressurized overnight (i.e. forgot to drain it.) In the morning the pressure has gone down - I can turn it back on and...

There is only one relief valve and it is on the outside. The valve is set to open if pressure builds past 160psi. You may be having trouble with the pressure regulator (large knob with high/low arrow). This regulator will leak at times. You can determing if it is leaking by unplugging /shutting off the compressor when you hear the leak. If the leak stops as you shut it off then most likely due to discharge tube seal at the head of the pump. If you continue to hear leak after shut off turn pressure knob counter clockwise all the way out. If you hear a change in the amount of leak or stops then pressure valve is problem. Parts are available at dewalt service center or at www.toolpartsdirect.com

Dewalt compressor d55152 just hums, has been used twice in 2006 and am finally getting around to fixing it. Any info on possible problems would be extremely helpful

Check your start and run capacitors ... you could just replace them or take the device to a motor repair place and have them check the caps.

Checking the caps is sortof a specialty. Most backyard mechanics do not have the ability to check accurately.

How much power (kw/hr) does a D55152 use at full capacity?

Below you will find the power requirements for your compressor. I would recommend not to use an extension cord due to possible damage to capacitor. My dewalt a/c, with same motor, is actually using 17.5 amps right before shut off. Good Luck!
