Question about Audiovox FPE2705 27 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

When I turn on the Audiovox FPE2705, it says the Audiovox logo, but then goes black. It looks like the back light just turns off. I think maybe the inverter or controller is turning the back light off. Is there a way to get around this issue?

None of the capicators on the PSU are bulging or look damaged, infact the board looks new. Now the LCD inverter also looks new, but the transformers ( 7 of them) are all very discolored. They look like they have over heated. Im thinking maybe 1 or 2 transformers still work, which allows the logo to show, but once the TV needs the rest, it goes out from not having the other transformers working. Does this sound like something that can happen. If so I can just buy a new LCD inverter which is a Darfon V070-001. They have a return policy so I could always order one, and if it doesnt work, I send that part back.

I notice that you can buy the transformers for 11.99 each! That would be a very cheap solution to fix the board. Well I looked over the board and see no fuses at all. It does use 24V, it clearly says that on the board. Maybe I should remove the transformers so I can see the threading. Now thing is, the TV doesnt turn off, only the back light does. Is that normal with a blown transformer?

Your advice is super helpful. I am really starting to understand this. I am use to dealing with small screens which I use in my car. This is by far more advanced then those, so I would assume it is a shut down mode to save the rest of the TV.

Yes, I see the spaces, but no fuses are soldered to them, they are blank. Maybe Audiovox had a special modified board made for them?

Anyways, I am going to try to unsolder a transformer and look under it. I have a picture of how it should look. If any are messed up, i'll replace the transformer. I just hope its that though.

I noticed also that next to where the fuses should be, is a tiny little circuit piece with the number 3 on it. I think they are using that to replace the fuse. Also I think like you said, the board is being shut off as a safety procaution and thats why the fuses are gone.

Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Otherwise indepth troubleshootong required or you may end up replacing the wrong parts.
Please post back what you find.

Yes, one of the transformer may have open winding in the secondary side, I replaced my in pair on DARFON board used in Olevia LT30HV. Your inverter board is more likely to use 24vdc, so you can verify that on the inverter board, the inverter board may ahve gone into shut down to protect itself, no blown surface mounted fuses on the inverter board?

There fuses on that board, look for label such as F1, F2, etc. they are really small.

If you look at the picture of the board, at the bottom left after the two capacitor, you will see the part with label Fx.

The blank is for the bigger fuse body, the one after the blank is 3A fuse.It should be label with Fx, there are two 8-pin IC (2 MOSFET per IC) per tranformer driving circuit.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

27 lcd model #fpe2705 no picture only sound

0ne of 3 has failed:
(in order of probability):

1. Backlight inverter
2. Power Supply
3. Backlight

Please seek the expertise of an experienced TV repair technician - as they contain potentially lethal voltages that must be properly discharged before work can begin.

Thanks!@#

Jensen LCD JE1907DC keeps looping the Jensen intro logo.

I don't have a solution but do have the same problem.
I took it in a reputable shop and they told me the main board was gone and they could not get parts for it.
I just found out that Jensen is a Audiovox trademark.

Audiovox fpe2705 inverter board replacement

You need to verify first that you do have 24vdc feeding the inverter boards, if you do have 24vdc then we can be sure it is the inverter boards. The inverter board will have very small surface mounted fuses, check for that also.
