Question about Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player
I do not think this is in consequence of firmware update. Probably it is a faulty lens, or the circuit that powers the laser is defective and does not work anymore on BRD.
The best thing to do is contacting sony and pointing out that the unit stopped reading BRD, and no improper use of the unit had been done since purchasing.
If they acknowledge that the problem may have happened in consequence of a factory defect, then you may have your BRD player replaced.
