I have a scratched lens. Can a new lens be bought?

Hello, I have several of these cameras myself and really like them, but the problem is the cost to repair would exceed the cost of a newer camera that you could purchase on E-Bay. Check it out and you can get a nice used camera.Hope this helps.

Kodak EasyShare DX6490 showed error # E45 on the screen when I tried to turn it on. After a while of trying to fix it, it doesn't even show that anymore. Now when I turn the dial the icon I turn it to...

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Regards
Andrea

Firmware Update Could my Kodak DX6490 camera a while back for taking pictures very sharp and not now. could you tell me if there is any diagnostic utility?

Hello Joan, There are no diagnostic utilities available to the consumer for the DX6490. It sounds like the drive unit for the lens has worn over time. Not a cheap repair, Sorry.

My camera Kodak DX6490 need to repair..

Know no solution, just, that is, what my camera did when it fell, the zoom lence was zoomed out, now it won't retract. Must have a crack also like yours. I took the back off and tried to see if any cables were loose, none were so I know it's in the front area of the camera. The zoom probably. My LCD screen doesn't come on either. But the camera it turns on and lights up the selection icon that I have it on. Did you get yours fixed? Sorry to post on the solution when not a solution. But, I didn't see a reply button, to type a regular reply.I did call the Kodak company and they said to buy another camera would be cheaper than getting mine sent to them to be fixed.

My c913 kodak camera fell.the lens wont go in to enable me to take a photo. what can i do

You have likely bent either the lens tube or mount, and you will need to have it repaired by Kodak. You can check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/repair/troubleshooting/troubleshooting.jhtml?pq-path=6198

It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions, but it will likely tell you to send the camera in for repair.

A stupid mistake and now my kodak easyshare dx6490 lens comes off

Hello, This happens quite often and the bad news is it is not worth the cost of repair, the good news is you can sell it on E-Bay for parts and by a good used one to replace it.If you buy a good used DX6490 you can still use your battery, charger, and other items from your old camera.
I have several very nice DX6490 units that I sell.

How to realign kodak dx6490

Hello Teacher, Since we have nothing to lose but a DX6490 try to gently push the lens housing in with the palm of your hand until it is fully seated, then gently pull the lens assembly out to it's extended position, now gently push it back in. Install battery and turn it on to see what happens. If this works, great, if it does not work list the camera on E-Bay for parts and I may buy it !!!

Kodak DX6490 error E45

this is actually a known problem or defect with this camera. Sometimes, if you point this out to kodak, they will fix it. I would go to the kodak site and write to them about it, or if there is a number, call that number. This didn't happen to me, but I came across this information when researching a different problem with the same model camera. I wish I could point you to the exact info, but it was a while back. The forum that I was on...some people were able to get their camera fixed, even though it was past warranty, and some were not.

if you cant swap one yourself from a dead camera it would be beyond economical repair.
If you are adventurous you could buy a faulty one of ebay and swap the lens or if the faulty one has a broken screen or mode dial swap yours over to the faulty one..
there are a couple of "tricks" do getting this camera open drop me a line if you decide to proceed...

best of luck
