Question about Hitachi 61SDX01B 61" Rear Projection Television

Hitachi 61SDX01B Hello, I will try to explain my situation as best of my abilities. I have a Hitachi 61SDX01B that was working great until about 3 months ago. Picture started to get darker and darker after a week or so it got completely dark and could not see anything (no picture and good sound). I called a place after a few days they came over to check it out after a few minutes they decided to take all the electronics from the TV. They disconnected everything and removed couple of screws and all the electronics from the bottom portion of the TV came on loose. After about a week or so they brought it back connected everything, they turned it on and still nothing. The tech guy had a plan ?B? just incase it did not work; he also mentioned that they replaced some capacitors and that is hard to trouble shoot the TV without having the entire TV with them. At this time he started to check some voltages. After a few minutes he tells me that the power supply is not supplying the correct voltage (12V, I think) to one of the picture tubes. So he pulls a piece of copper wire out of his suitcase and tells me that he is going to coil the wire to the power supply (or something around there), measure the voltage of the wire after each turn until he gets the desire voltage and solder the wire to the picture tube that is not getting the correct voltage. The area were he need it to solder the wire was at the end (tip) of the picture tube and since it had a small metal cover he was having problems removing it. At this time he tells me that he will have to come back on other day. At this time I got upset and told him that I didn?t want to fix the TV the way he was trying to do it. He got upset also, but I told him that I still wanted it fixed and that I just wanted to replace the entire component that was causing the problem. Not just a patch up work. I told him to find the price of the power supply (he referred to the part as the power supply) and to give me a call. Well, he never did call me and the TV is just sitting on my leaving room. My question to you is: Assuming that the problem is the power supply or something around the power supply (whatever injects voltage to the picture tubes), do you think is worth fixing the TV? Maybe with my story you can get an idea what the problem is. I do understand that you can?t tell me for sure what the problem is without inspecting the TV yourself but with your knowledge maybe you can tell me what the part number is called (whatever gives voltage to the picture tubes), part name. I know is a long shoot, I know is a risk that I?m taking trying to replace (maybe) this part without knowing exactly the name, part # or knowing if is this is actually the problem. so do you think is worth fixing it? how much do you think i can sell it as is? Thanks,

Hitachi 61SDX picture got dim shows Code 3

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

Sounds like the blue convergence circuit still not working.

Assuming both IC's are good, look for open soldered-in pico fuse.

Once bowing problem is solved, then convergence should adjust ok.
