Question about Washing Machines

Low Water Level in Roper washing machine

When the tub fills at the start of the wash cycle and at the rinse cycle - it ionly fills half way. This happens regardless of the amount of clothes i put in...an empty tub is opnly half way filled. For every load i have to turn and hold the water level knob till the tub is filled. Is there an adjustment somewhere for water level? Thanks in advance!

You need to check the pressure switch which is also called the water level switch. There is a small tube attached to it and it may have a blockage or a hole in it. You can find this behind the control panel to the left of the timer.

Roper washing machine does not fill for rinse cycle. Goes directly to rinse agitate without water.

Without Model number I am only guessing but I suspect you have a blocked sensing tube that travels from the Level selector switch to the side of the tub somewhere. It is possible for this plastic tube to become partially clogged and not allow trapped air to vent when tub is drained of water. Usually this problem manifests itself as an overflow of the tub. Check the full length of this clear hose and see if the end nearest the tub looks like it may have debris or dirty detergent clogging it.

This hose is pushed onto a nipple mounted to a reservoir on the side of the tub. Push a thin copper wire 4-5 inches into the those after removing from nipple and also down into the nipple an inch or two before reinstalling the hose to the nipple. You MIGHT even blow into the hose while you have it off and you SHOULD hear a clicking sound coming from the level selector switch body.

Good Luck. Come back with Model number under lid if that doesn't help.

I have a Roper washing machine (Model: RTW4440XQ0, Serial #: C11740048) that is less than a year old. When you start the machine on any cycle (on high water level) it will fill up with water and run...

The machine was built to adhere to the low water guidelines of your overly intrusive government. Bought a new machine with the same problem. 1/2 tub of wash water and 3"-5" of rinse water. 3 different local service shops and the Whirlpool people said neither was adjustable. I found this unacceptable and decided I was going to make it work the way I wanted not the way the government schlocks said I must. Took out the 2 screws on either end of the control panel ( where all the controls are) lifted it up and found 2 ADJUSTABLE water level control switches. One 3-way for the wash water and one for rinse water. Cranked them both in and now I have a full tub of wash water and the same for rinse, Vote in 2012 to keep the government out of our homes and our lives,

The water is going out the drain and cannot fill up the tub.

Check out the height of your drain. If the drain is too low, the water will drain right out of the tub. Check out the attached photo. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Water runs contiuously... tub never fills...cycle doesn't start.

Hi, You need to reset the drain hose. It needs to be over the water level in the machine. If you have it in a sump pump, it needs to be out of the water in the sump. If I can help you further, please let me know

Thanks
Vic
