Question about Pioneer DEH-P6800MP CD Player

1 Answer

No sound I recently disconnected my radio to install a gps, and i reconnected the radio wires, everything seemed to be working fine, however, no sound came through any speakers on any function. In order to see if it was my headunit or harness, i attached the older factory stereo and it worked out fine. Now I know that it is in either the connections or something else, not the speakers....please help.

Check your remote turn-on lead connection - you may have a factory amplified system which isn't getting turned on, which would explain the no sound.

Cd plays but no sounds comes out

Depending on the radio, if you didnt touch your radio when you installed GPS then the CD player could be bad, check the manufactures website for troubleshooting tips then check google, also next time post the brand and model number so we can know what you have to help, hope this helps you.

The unit turns on then shuts off after a few seconds.

This could be a bad speaker or speaker wire. I had this same problem recently. In my case it was the powered sub-woofer. I disconnected the speaker wire from the back of the receiver(with the power off, of course). When I powered up the receiver, problem solved, it worked fine. I then made sure the wire was not shorting out, carefully reconnected everything and the sub works too. I never found the cause, but it has worked fine for several months now.
You can start by disconnecting all the speakers. If the receiver powers-up reconnect them one at a time to find the bad wire/speaker. If it is not the speakers, disconnect all attached devices. If the receiver still won't power-up go shopping for a new one. It is not worth repairing. It is less expensive to replace it.
Remember, always turn the power off and set volume to zero before disconnecting or connecting anything! You don't want to cause any damage.

Instrument panel guages quit. Getting 'No Bus' error in odometer.

That wire needs to be hooked to the factory radio , part of the PCI bus - serial data communication network . I know on GM vehicles if the radio isn't hooked to the bus the vehicle will not start an run . Don't know if Dodge vehicles are that complex .

You mite call a aftermarket installer an ask or the dodge dealer

Could radio wiring be causing my truck instrument panel to fail?

That wire is probably data. What you may have to do is get a radio-relocation harness, contact your local car audio shop. The company is Metra out of Florida. You will need to get this harness, possible p/n 70-6512. That way your OE radio data bus remains connected. I have this harness in my inventory, but I am in Edmonton, Canada..

Also had no radio but flashing bass/treble indicator lights. As suggested by another post, I disconnected neg. batt. cable and pulled the "interior cluster" fuses, re-set them and then reconnected batt. cable. This fixed the radio.

Radio cracking/no sound

I disconnected the amp and ran jumper wires between the two harnesses basically creating an amp bypass everything now works fine.
