It's not a fuse issue, the AC adapter needs to be reset (I'll how explain below). First, a little background on the issue.

Considering how often I see this problem, I'm amazed Nintendo didn't address it in their FAQ on the Wii.

This is a common problem with the Wii. As I said, I'm very surprised Nintnedo didn't cover this in the owners manual FAQ, considering it happens almost every time there is a power surge or the power goes out, etc.

Even if it's hooked up to a surge protector, this happens. Power comes back on, but the Wii appears dead. It won't turn on, and the LED indicators won't light. If there was a power surge, or the power went out,etc...anything, this will happen. The problem is with the AC adapter, not the Wii itself.

You need to reset the AC adapter to get the Wii to work again. There is a circuit inside the AC adapter that needs to be reset. Unplug the AC adapter from the wall/surge protector outlet. Don't unlpug it from the Wii, it has to be at the outlet. You have to kill power to the adapter.

Unlpug it from the wall/surge protector outlet, and leave it unplugged for 5 or 10minutes. This will kill power to the AC adapter, and give the circuit time to reset. When you plug the adapter back into the outlet after 10 minutes, the red led on the front should be lit up.

We just got our we, we plugged it in then the power in the whole house went out and the wii won't turn back on - HELP

My guess would be that the fuse in the plug has blown. Try replacing the fuse and try plugging the power supply back into the mains power socket but do not connect it to the Wii. If the power goes again and the fuse blows then the power supply is faulty. If the power in the house stays on then try plugging the power connector into the Wii and see if it works.

Power will not come on at all a cable guy came to my house turned cable off to reset it my power went out and some sparks came out of some outlets next day my son went to play wii it would not come on....

1. Try plugging something else into the socket to ensure the socket itself is working.
2. Changing the fuse in your Wii power adapter, blown fuses are very common and this could be it.
3. If number 2 doesn't work try and get a hold of a replacement power adapter as the problem could be a break in the wire. You can get a new adapter at this site NDSL games console, ds games console, NDSL games console_Video games Console_www.goldenbridge.hk

My wii console will not turn on at all, the blue light will not come on. I have checked all plugs and cables and everything is connected. We have only had this wii console not even a year yet. what could...

it could be the power suppy mine went wrong after about 18 months, try ebay there the cheapest. you can test if its the power supply if you know someone with a wii and use there power supply or know how to use a multi meter and check if you have a voltage coming out of the wii plug end. if you dont first try replacing the fuse in the wall plug. hope this helps.

Thunderstorm cut Wii off

Check the fuse in the plug.. It may have blown when this happend. If not then it will be a repair job.
It's always best to use a surge protector with any console or computer etc.

The electricity went off this morning...Now the Wii console power won't turn on....

Confirm the wii is plugged in (wall and wii side); if the wii is plugged into a power strip, confirm the power strip is plugged in, and that any on/off or fuse switch on the strip is set to on (may have been tripped during power surge/outage); unplug the wii for 15 minutes (seriously, 15 minutes), then plug it back in and try again.

Wii console will not come on. There was a storm the other night and power went out but the wii was not on. Only plugged in.

Hi,

Thanks for using FixYa!

Its possible that your Wii just shorted. You need to open up the console and check the fuse. Usually, the fuse is the only thing that gets damaged during shorting. If you do not are unsure how to open up your Wii, Just bring it to a local technician and have the fuse replaced. I hope this helps.

Have a nice day.
