Hi.

Try first disconnecting the power cord or tripping the circuit breaker for two minutes to reset the oven.

If that does not clear the error, then the temperature probe must be tested and eventually replaced.

The temperature probe is tested removing it from the oven cavity and touching with the terminals of a multimeter set at Rx1 its contacts to read impedance.

At room the probe must have low impedance, about 1.1KOhm.
If the probe has no continuity (circuit open) , then the probe must be replaced.

Here the probe: PS1156355

Probe is part 14 on diagram below , click on the picture to enlarge.

    Hey!

I spent 15 minutes to find parts and diagrams, and to describe the fault, testing and repair, and I received a bad vote!

Now that I am voted out the question will be passed to a different expert.

    Good luck.

If the oven is asking insert probe, that is because of broken wiring to probe.

I am writing in a hurry because question will be relocated.

Have wiring harness to probe holder replaced, that is the other probe, not the temperature probe.

    goodbye.

The probe light is on as well as the question remove probe or enter probe temp. This will not go away. We never used this option. We turned breaker off for 10minutes or longer... Pushed some buttons .

Make sure there is not food residue on the probe jack, it will ground the jack and make the control "think" the probe is in use. You can also send the control in to be refurbished... the solder joints on all of these machines are failing badly by now...

Kitchen Aid Oven - Superba Selectra- receive

Hi,

Here is what Kitchen Aid says about F4:

F4 Meat probe shorted
1. Disconnect meat probe and measure probe resistance (78kω at 60° F [15.6° C],
37kω at 90° F [32.2° C]).
2. If resistance is not valid replace probe.
3. Insert probe and check for a firm connection between probe and jack (in oven cavity).
4. Check connection between jack and harness (in rear of oven).

It sounds like the probe jack may be bad or the wiring between the jack and the control board above.

How do I use the thermometer in my Kitchenaid Superba?

I found the answer by checking the Kitchenaid website to find the manual. My model is KEMS308sss04, this is found on the right door frame. Website is: http://shop.kitchenaid.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%20W10162223.pdf
You can preheat oven, but then turn off to set thermometer. Put probe in food. Put food in oven and plug in probe. The digital light asks for the temperature you want, type it in. Then the cooking method. I used convection bake at 325. Hit START. (The first time I didn't stop the oven and it didn't work. After stopping everything and starting with the probe before turning on the oven, it worked perfectly. Good Luck.
