LITEON DVD/cd rewritable device not reconized

Hi,

Since the system originally had another version of Windows did you run the Upgrade Advisor and
check the Compatibility Center for the CD/DVD compatibilty (and other devices as needed).

Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - please run this now.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Also check the Compatibility Center (for major devices)
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx
Check with the System maker and the Device maker for information about drivers for Windows 7.
(BIOS, low level chipset drivers, and other major device drivers).

-------------------------------------------
Check these :
The DVD drive does not function after you install Windows 7 - these are different Sony drives
however the same issue could be affecting your drive.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975270/
Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116
-------------------------------------------------------
If the System can run Windows 7 AND there are drivers for the devices these might help :

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.
Stage 1 : Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total
process which solves the issue.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab -
click Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL -
REBOOT this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if drive is not shown continue
below.
Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just snug. For laptops you can often clean the power and
data contacts with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD drives do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the System maker and
device maker to see if there is firmware or drivers for you drive if needed.

===============================

Stage 2 : You could have drive issues as the CD/DVD is actually 4 drives in 1 case ( CD & DVD
burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 parts to not function while the others
do so properly.

Did you complete the troubleshooter for the drive that still does not work? There are some
registry entries that the troubleshooter does not fix and those "might" be the cause.

Check with your System Maker and Device maker for both possible firmware updates and the
correct Registry entries for your drive.

These are the keys I think are the ones in question - for the CD/DVD drive sub-keys of course
as there will other sub-keys in these keys. Be sure to ask for specific keys involved as well as
the settings.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\0001\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

You probably can find more info here and maybe even the exact registry settings for your CD/DVD
drive from someone with the same model.

Tsstcorp cddvdw ts l633p error code 19

Code 19 means there is a driver conflict such as two devices trying to use the same resources.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click
Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
this will refresh the default driver stack.

Normally the above will fix that issue if not work your way down through these even if you have done
them before.

CD/DVD driver not working

A few solutions:
1. Have you tried to clean your cd/dvd lens? Probably your lens is getting weak.

2. For advance user: Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
- Look for DVD/CD-ROM drives and delete the subkey.
- Restart your machine.

3. Let Microsoft FixIt help you:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/cd_dvd_drive_problems/en-us

Worst case - Get a new CD/DVD-ROM for the replacement.

Don't forget to thumb up! ;) Good luck!

It doesnt recognize a dvd rom is connected to cp it says cd rom driver not found

Reseat the drive if it is removable.
See if you can boot to the drive using a bootable CD (Windows CD etc) If you can boot to it, then it is a software issue.
run the fixit utility here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116 if that doesn't resolve, then use the manual steps listed below the fixit tool. If that still doesn't resolve, the drive is likely bad.

HI there,

Often, the automated Microsoft Fixit Tool Utility on the page belwo will solve cd/dvd problems. If not, it will sometimes tell you the exact problem which can be solved another suggested way.

A favor, if this does not work and you find this post only "Moderstely Helpful", please don't leave 2 thumbs up. It just lowers my rating so I get "punished" for trying to help someone for free.

Norton 360 install has replaced/overridden DVD drive

Hi, I can certainly understand how you feel and hope I can help.

error 19 isnt necesarily a corrupt driver, it can be 2 drivers trying to use the same resource (as in norton's backup drive and your cd drive, for example)

Try this - Click the start button, right click on "Computer", select "Properties", then click "Device Manager" in the upper left hand corner.

Open the bit that says "CD/DVD Drives" and try right clicking on the drives there and selecting "Update Driver Software". This will probably do nothing. Don't worry, I didnt really expect it to. Now right click on the drives, and select "Delete" and then reboot. This will reset the drivers for ya.

This fix usually DOES work. Most of the time. If it doesnt work, try the ones below.

I purchased a Dell Computer back in 2004 which came with Sonic Digital Media Plus v7. My PC has Windows XP Operating System. A few days ago I decided to install Version 6.0 of Roxios Easy CD/DVD Burning...

Try uninstalling Roxio and the Sonic drives and run Fixit. Then reboot and install Roxio first then the Sonic driver.
If this doesn't work uninstall again as previously, install Roxio and check the CD/DVD if necessary run Fixit then install Sonic driver.
