This is an easy fix if you are comfortable soldering.

You must have hooked it up backwards. Big problem when using a cigarette lighter adapter. You have to be careful, if you hook a radio up backwards you blow the polarity protection diode.

  • Go to radio shack and buy an N1004 diode.
  • Open the radio
  • Look towards the back right of the radio for a black diode D23. it will probably look burnt, but not always.
  • Use a soldering wick to remove the solder holding the diode in.
  • Remove it, and replace the diode making sure its going in the same direction as the old on. Strip on the side the triangle is pointing.
  • Solder it in.
  • Test the radio
That should do it.

Make sure you are careful to hook the radio up to power corrctly.

I see two possible problems. First, with a magnetic antenna it is difficult to get the proper ground for the antenna. Make sure the magnetic base is clean as well as where you place it. Second, try running your power lead DIRECTLY to the battery and not using the cigarette lighter. Hope it helps.

What size inline fuse is in the cobra 29 wt nw

Usually a 3 amp quick acting 3AG fuse---do not use the generic ones from Radio Shack.

If the radio got hooked up backwards look and test for a dead short across the power leads-----there is a diode just inside where the hot lead goes that will be shorted .

Low transmit audio cobra 29 ltd nw

Are you talking about this radio or what others are hearing from your radio?

My friend, no one but the holder of a 1st class FCC radio license is permitted to adjust the input power to the final amp. Further, one needs some pretty technical equipment to accomplish this fine tune adjustment. Failure to properly set this envelope will result in degraded operation and possible failure of your radio.

If you can't live with the present circumstance, get your radio profesionally repaired.

Thank you for your quesiton at FixYa.com-

Start with the antenna that you have hooked to it, is it grounded, is the coax in good shape, is the connector in good shape. stuff like that.

COBRA 29 NW LTD CLASSIC

Capacitor C-82, which connects the output of the driver to the input og the final, is leaky or shorted, putting +12 volts on the base of the final, which blows it immediately.
