Question about HP Officejet J5780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

I have downloaded new drivers for my J5780 to work with WIN7 -- everything works but I no longer have a Solutions Center available. Also I don't seem to have the option of scanning to .pdf

I appreciate the info....but this seems like an extra step [ie: scan to .jpeg; then convert to .pdf]. Is that my only alternative with this printer/driver? If so, I guess I need to find another printer. Would you agree? I need and use the .pdf capability often since I send sensitive letters that I wouldn't want changed [Word] and like the scanability, readability and ease of .pdf.

Hello and thank you for using Fixya's services.

Windows 7 was released on Oct. 22, 2009 and caught many manufacturer's off guard, with preparation of drivers. The driver that you downloaded for the printer is a temporary as they will be working hard on implementing all of the functions in the new software/driver. I would say a month or two for finalization so it is definetly worth keeping the printer.

A quick fix, in the meantime, would be to download cute PDF. This free software allows you to save files quickly to PDF. It is simple to use as you choose print document, choose cute PDF and then save the file (PDF).

You can download the software here:

Please let me know if you have any questions.

This is because the drivers are an early version, only good enough to make HP fully working in Win7.
You really don't need  Solutions Center (it's nothing more than GUI that brings together all the capabilities - access them directly)   and the option of scanning to .pdf can be replaced by other third party software like

Driver no longer installed , not sure what happened what can i do

This is a great program I've recently discovered.

http://drp.su/download.htm

Drivers Solutions Pack.
There is a Lite version, a Full version, and in the middle of the page,
We Recommend: Download Driver Utilities to Update Drivers

If you're not familiar with CD Burning, I'd reccomend the Driver Utilities program too.

It's all free. Only problem I've had is with Dell Integrated Sound Driver, which they don't seem to be able to fix.

Dear Fuvlaun, If your system have XP previously than it can absolutely run XP again. One thing you have to do is to bring another XP CD as I think you have problem in your XP CD.
Again if you are installing win7, please install the home premium. I think it will solve 70% driver problem. for other drivers go to HP site/ support, type your model Number. Download the driver for win7, install those and enjoy.

Need a driver for Visioneer OneTouch 8700 Flatbed Scanner

The drivers for supported OS versions are available here: http://support.visioneer.com/products/8700/downloads.asp . The supported OS versions are: Windows XP SP 1 / 2000 Professional / Me / 98SE and the additional software that was bundled on the CD is not included.

If you have a different Microsoft OS, you can check the Microsoft compatibility center for either Vidat or Win7. A check of the Win7 compatibility Center http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx showed some Visioneer OneTouch scanners work with Win7. However, the 8700F is not in the list.

I hope this helps.

(Dual boot with XP or a virtual computer with an older valid OS version will work. The Win7 Pro and Ultimate let you use Virtual PC and XP mode to run an XP virtual computer for free.)

If you have the HP Officejet j5780, you can download the full software and drivers that work with Win7. Go to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3301296& and select your OS version (32- or 64-bit).

Unplug the data cable and uninstall any generic driver if you plugged the printer into the computer (USB) before installing the latest software.

I hope this helps.

Aveocap built-in cam won't work when i upgrade to windows 7 from xp..? the old drivers of the built-in cam cannot. What will i do? thanks..

You need to go to the Aveocap website, follow links for support and downloads entering the details of your camera model and operating system as requested. You should be guided to a web page which has the win7 driver you need available for a free download. If its not there, then there may not be a win7 compatible driver.
