Question about Dell 962 Photo All-In-One InkJet Printer

Dell AIO 962 printer faulty

Amber exclaimation (!) light flashing on front panel. Printer does not function - that is, will not print and will not photocopy. Scanning is working okay. LCD display has message "right cartridge incorrect". This refers to the colour cartridge which was replaced few weeks back and used infrequently since.
Any ideas?

    light on front blinks and says i am out of ink. Also file for operation corrupts and i have to delete and download over and over

    The Dell printer displays a fault saying the right cartridge is in misalignment and it won't print or copy anything. This is as the other poster indicated a light flashing and the indication says that the right cartridge the Color cartridge is misaligned. When trying to align the cartridge through the maintenance program the indicator continues with the same message. And the printer doesn't work at all. All power and other functions appear normal. Any suggestions?

    Try everything, except to install another one. Since I don't want to spend more money in this printer. Anything else that I can do now?

    I ordered, received and installed new printer catridges from DELL on-line, for my AIO962 printer. I still get the error messages,

    "Right cartridge incorrect" and "Left cartridge incorrect"?

    Anybody know what to do?

    I continually get the "right cartridge incorrect" message. This will not allow me to print, even in black only.........any suggestions, plenty of ink still in the color cartridge.

The error you are referring to could be related to either the cartridge or the printer, so please perform the steps below to check if the issue lies in the printer or the cartridge.
Power on the printer and open the top cove, the cartridges will align in the middle of the printer, remove both the cartridges form their slots and interchange them, yes put the Black cartridge in the Blue slot and the Color cartridge in the Black slot, then close the top cover of the printer and power off the printer and restart it, at this point of time check if the error message is changed or not if the error message is not changed and till showing the same as “Right cartridge is incorrect” then you can try to update the printer firmware form the Dell support site, here is how you can do it.

  1. Go to
  2. Click on Drivers & Downloads.
  3. Under Option 2: Select a Product as printers.
  4. Locate the printer(s) 962 printer and click Go.
  5. Select an Operating System that is installed in your computer then choose downloads and look for Firmware.
  6. Download and install the firmware, then restart the computer and the printer, however please make sure that you do not restart your computer and the printer when the download and the installation is in progress.
If the issue is still not fixed after you upgraded the firmware then I believe that you will have to replace it. However if the error message changes to Left cartridge incorrect after you have interchanged the cartridges earlier then try these steps below.
  1. Remove the color cartridge and clean the metal contacts of the cartridge with a dry cloth thoroughly please make sure that you are using a soft dry cloth to clean the metal contacts of the cartridge.
  2. Make sure that the cartridge holder snap which sits on the top of the cartridge is fixed firmly.
  3. Make sure that you are using a Dell branded cartridge and it is not a refilled one cause Dell printers often give error message when you use a refilled cartridge or a cartridge of some other brand.
  4. If the issue is still not resolved replace the color cartridge.

It could be a communications error message, the printer is not communicating with the computer.

  • Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Disconnect and then reconnect the printer power cable.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Remove and reinstall the printer software

To begin with, completely remove the printer drivers from your computer using the utility .Then download and save the latest version of your printer drivers and the wireless adapter utility from the support website.     My Dell AIO printer keeps blinking right ink cartridge incorrect.Exclamation light keeps blinking too.

    Try going to the Dell site and searching for that printer model. Then see if you need to have both ink cartridges populated and filled with ink, to make it work.

    You might also clean the contacts on the ink cartridges, to make sure the printer knows you have both cartridges in the printer, even though they're not both filled with ink.

    It just might require both to be filled, before it will print for you.

    the yellow blinkin exclaimation point is usually an indication that there is a printer cartridge problem. It usually means the ink is low.

    My Dell AIO 962 Printer does not respond

    The printer is dead and needs replacement. If covered under warranty, u can get a replacement from Dell. Speak to Dell support and they can give you alternative solution.
