Question about NetGear PS121 Print Server

Print server won't work with 2 printers of same model??????

Hi, well this is the problem, i have 2 printers HP laserjet 1020 and i wanted to install them both using the print server (1 for each). when i installed the first one it was working fin but after i installed the second one, both printers where showing up as "offline" i've tried everything that came to my mind. i was wondering if the problem is that they both r the same model(although i don't see any problem with that since both print servers have diferent IP) if u have seen this before or have any tip for me would be great thanks

Hi Pirate!
Can your remotely acces the two printer servers? If they are located by name, on the network, make sure it is not the same on both, like a default name. If it is possible, connect to one, disconnecting the second one, and see if it has a fixed IP, Like Change it off the default, or use use the DHCP option, if it is has it.
I was working with some Intel print servers, long ago, that used software on each PC to locate the printer servers. Since the both had the same name, and they conflicted.

Good Luck.

WGPS606 does not like printers

Hi, visit the link below to check the compatibility list of this print server. If your printer is not listed then it means that it has not been tested with this print server and there is equal chances for its nonfunctioning with the print server.

Hp 1020 dp-300u

dont' worry about what the d-link site says. its because they haven't tested it. i got my dp-301u to work fine with my hp1020 on 2 different workstations with the following steps.

1. install printer locally via usb and test.
2. create a second printer as per the dlink manual creating a port. don't worry about the name as we will delete it.
3. once created go into the properties of the 2nd printer and change the port to something local - anything will do to free up the port.
4. go into the properties of the printer that was created in step 1. and change the port to that of the print server.
5. test print. should work fine.

Documents not printing

Hi How to check the print server is in the wireless network or not!! Check under the Router Setup page Router's ip address... Check if you are able to ping the Print Server Ip address....Since it the router will assign a ip address from DHCP range.. If you are able to ping the router's ip address and the print server ip address then the print server is in the Wireless LAN... Try the following steps. 1. Go to run and type "cmd" press enter 2. type ipconfig. 3. Check the range of ip address...if its 192.168.0.XX 4. Try pinging that ip address.. 5. If able to ping the router and print server.. Then the wireless network is fine... Somehow some of the printer's don't work with some of the print servers.. Check if D-link does support the printer or not!!!! for this particular model of the router...

Cannot print to Deskjet using JetDirect 175x

What model Deskjet is it?

Some models of USB printer are what is known as "host-based", which means that the printing functions are all handled by the computer. These printers won't communicate through an external JetDirect device at all. The most notorious is HP's Laserjet 1020 series, but a lot of the DeskJet series are host-based as well.

If the JetDirect test page isn't getting communicated, chances are you are out of luck.
