Question about Acer Aspire 5610-4648 Notebook
OK, I'm assuming this is a power up password or BIOS password that has been forgotten. The only way to clear this password is by "shorting" a jumper connection on the motherboard. There is a special jumper on the motherboard where the Memory modules are. Flip the laptop over so the bottom of the case is up. There is an access door that covers the memory, take this door off and take the memory modules out. Look on the motherboard, there will be a small square marked J3 and it will have metal contacts on it. To "short" the connection, use a screwdriver or similar tool that will contact all the contacts in the jumper area. While holding this in place, power up the laptop and wait for it to go into the boot sequence. Once it boots or after 45 seconds, remove power and remove the "short". put memory back in and reboot. When you do this procedure, make sure the main battery is out. Once you reboot, it may still ask for the password, just hit enter and it should let you in.
