Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hello, I've recently built a new computer and with it I upgraded to Windows 7. Since then, my sound will cut out at such bizarre times and not return. It takes a complete restart to get the sound back, even when I do that sometimes my mouse won't work so it will take another restart. Any ideas on either of these problems?

Hello,

I have got two possible problems in my mind. One is that your laptop does not meet optimal cirteria for using Windows 7. Especially if you keep original 2GB RAM. But I do not thing this would cause problems as you described.

The second one, as you mentiond, you need to update the drivers too. From the Sony's point of view, they do not support Win 7 in this laptop, so they do not provide any drivers.

Depends on the usage you give it. If you don't use very heavy and CPU dependent programs and don't want to spend your money you should downgrade back to XP.
But if you feel like you need more power for the software you use and can spare a few bucks you should definitely invest in a new PC. That PC is quite old and will start limiting you a lot if you need it on a regular basis.

Hello,

After lookng at the base specifacation of this laptop, even if it was upgraded the laptop would not support windows 7. Windows XP would be the latest OS you could install.

Sony webcam no longer works with windows 7

1. The drivers for this Web camera may not be developed for Windows 7 64 bit by the manufacturer.
You will either have to purchase a new camera to be compatible with Windows 7 or Vista 64.
This is also true for your SD card reader.

Sony Vaio VGN-FW140E Windows 7 Built in Mic

you should be able to go to the driver and update it, and when you do, it should ask if you would like to check the internet for an updated driver, click  yes, if it does'nt find one that way, you may check on the windows 7 upgrade disc. if you can not do it this way, you can go to the site of the computer manufacturer and there should be an update or a driver download there. if you can tell me the model of your computer, i may be able to help you more..

Run microsoft update and make sure to select all updates (even optional). You will see hardware updates (if there is any) and this may fix the issue. Let me know if not.
