Do you mean blank lines?

If there is a blank, then there is no pattern.

    This is caused by a failure of the ink or some obstructed nozzles.
    Perhaps replacing the cartridges will fix it.

    If the blank lines are "random", perhaps the head cable is broken. As the printer is getting cheaper, a repair is not a good idea. (Unless you want to do it by yourself).

How can i print a test pattern on my sp8200dn printer


After you have selected whichever test pattern you want ie 05 for lined page press the OK and exit this sp. if you go to the 5-990 SP PRINT OUT mode and choose any of the options there the printer will print a pattern on the pages instead of the data.

Hi Abe,
1) Press the Ink button -> Test Print -> then choose Print Quality -> the printer will then go through and print a series of small squares in each of the four colors in the shape of parallelograms. If you see any gaps in parallelograms then you will be asked asked to clean the cartridge, do so. -> Just keep repeating process until there are no gaps

2) Then I did an Alignment check right after the cleaning through pretty much same process:
Press Ink button-> Test Print -> then choose Alignment-> and make sure the patterns match to the closest number

I have not my Epson Stylus Photo for quite some time. Now I want to use it again, I 've put in some new cartridges. The print shows repeating (green) lines. Any idea what could be the problem ?


To help complete the pattern, feed copy papers to the printer and do atleast 40 blank photocopies and afterwards clean the head and check the nozzle.if it has not improved, repeat the same procedure until the pattern completes.mine also had the same problem but after doing that, it was solved for good.
NB: Command copies without putting any printed paper to save ink.

This is for a Ricoh copier. You did not indicate machine.

The LD unit home position sensor does not detect an on condition while changing the LD unit position for correcting the LD position or changing the DPI.

5.4.3 LASER BEAM PITCH ADJUSTMENT
There are two laser beam pitch adjustment procedures: one for 400 dpi, and one
for 600 dpi. These adjustments use the following SP modes.
· SP2-109-1: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-2: Laser Beam Pitch Adjustment - 600 dpi
· SP2-109-3: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 400 dpi
· SP2-109-4: Laser Beam Pitch Initial Setting - 600 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.12: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 400 dpi
· SP2-902-2, no.13: IPU Test Pattern - Cross Stitch - 600 dpi

1. Perform SP2-109-8 (Beam Pitch Data Reset).

2. Input the value for 400 dpi that is printed on the LD unit into SP2-109-1.
Use the value printed after "P" on the new LD unit as shown below.
NOTE: Do not use values printed after a "V".

(These value numbers are on a sticker inside the machine with a UPC code on it. The numbers are just under the UPC barcode. And example number looks like this: "15980300151P: 120, 172", so the example 400 dpi value here is "120".)

3. Press the "Enter" key.

4. Perform SP2-109-3.

5. Print the 400-dpi test pattern onto A3 (11"x17") paper using SP2-902-2 no.12
(cross stitch). (See Service Tables - Test Pattern Printing - Section 4.2.3, pasted below.)

6. Write the value of SP2-109-1 on the test pattern which was input at step 2.

7. Change the value of SP2-109-1 and print another test pattern, repeating steps
2 to 5. Print about 5 patterns with different values for SP2-109-1 (e.g. "48", "96",
"192", "240").

8. Check this test pattern. If the laser beam pitch is not correct, the image looks
like a black vertical stripe pattern.
NOTE: If the laser beam pitch is correct, the vertical stripe is not so noticeable.
If the value is not correct, the vertical stripe pattern is darker.

9. Adjust the laser beam pitch position until the thin lines are of uniform thickness
(no striping effect should appear on the printout), doing steps 2, 3, and 4. (In
step 2, input a value which is estimated to be correct, then do steps 3 and 4,
then if necessary go back to step 2 and try another value.)

10. After adjusting the laser beam pitch for 400 dpi, adjust the laser beam pitch for
600 dpi, using the same procedure as for 400 dpi (use the SP modes for 600
dpi).

NOTE: Do not operate the machine until the test pattern is printed out completely.
Otherwise, an SC may occur.

1. Access the SP mode which contains the test pattern you need.

2. Press exit, then touch the "Copy Mode" key on the operation panel to access
the copy mode display.

3. Select the paper size.

4. Press the "Start" key to print the test pattern.

5. After checking the test pattern, exit copy mode by touching the "SP Mode" key.
Reset the test pattern to 0.

6. Exit the SP mode.

- The service mode functions are same as those of the previous models.
1) Test pattern 1: Service test print pattern 1 will be printed.
2) Test pattern 2: Service test print pattern 2 will be printed.
3) Test pattern 3: Service test print pattern 3 will be printed.
4) Cleaning at the service test print: Check the Cleaning box and perform the service test print.
Cleaning will be performed before the service test print is printed.
5) EEPROM initialization at the service test print: Check the EEPROM Clear box and perform the
service test print. EEPROM will be initialized.
6) Destination setting: Select the device ID to set the destination.
7) Ink absorber counter resetting (Main): Main ink absorber counter will be cleared.
8) Ink absorber counter resetting (Platen): Platen ink absorber counter will be cleared.
9) Device ID acquisition: Device ID will be displayed on the PC.
10) EEPROM information acquisition (Dump): EEPROM information will be displayed on the PC with
the HEX dump.
11) EEPROM information acquisition: EEPROM information will be displayed on the PC.
12) Nozzle check pattern print: Nozzle check patter will be printed.
13) Cleaning A: Cleaning A will be performed.
14) Cleaning B: Cleaning B will be performed.

Reds come out yellow, and facial tones are too red


It sounds like your machine needs to be calibrated. First try turning the machine off and unplug it for about 15 seconds. When you turn it back on it will reboot its software and stabilize the image units. If this does not correct the problem you can perform a gradation adjustment by:

1 Load 11 × 17 L-size paper into the 1st drawer.
❍ Letter C, A3 L or A4 C can be loaded instead.

2 Press the [Utility] key.

3 Touch [Admin. Mode].

4 Using the keypad, type in the administrator code.
❍ Touch [Enter].

5 Touch [Gradation Adjustment].
The Gradation Adjustment screen appears.

6 Press the [Start] key.
A test pattern is printed.

7 After the test pattern is printed, a screen appears, indicating how
the test pattern must be loaded.

8 Place the printed test pattern on the original glass.
❍ Align the edges of the printed test pattern with the document scales.

9 Place into the 1st drawer 10 more sheets of blank paper of the same size as the printed test pattern page.

10 Close the original cover, or the reverse automatic document feeder if it is installed.

11 Press the [Start] key. The printed test pattern is scanned.

12 Based on the scanned image, the gradation levels are automatically adjusted.
After the gradation levels are adjusted, the Admin. Mode screen appears again.

13 Repeat steps 5 through 12 three times.

14 Touch [Exit], and then touch [Exit] in the Utility screen.

It will not print. It has new ink cartridges..There are no error messages. Print heads have been cleand several times. It will not print a test pattern. It will not make a copy. Only blank paper comes out.


Head cleaning is mechanical process, printing is electrical process. Nothing print out at all? Printer mainboard problem. Lost electrical to head. Usually caused by short circuit at head. Track on aicaxz solution for reference to repair board. Note: if you have experience in electrical circuit, test mounted fuse at board.

Deskjet F380 is normaly printing but it will print blank


If the printer is printing blank pages, make sure you are using the correct printer driver and make sure the paper size is correctly selected in the driver. If the printer is printing black only, the Ink option in the printer driver may be set to Black instead of Color or a setting in the software may be set to print black only. Also, the print head nozzles may be clogged. From the Utility section found in the printer driver, clean the print heads by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Performing up to 6 cleaning cycles is not uncommon if the print heads are severly clogged.
