If your laptop is shutting off its because of heat. replace the cpu fan and that will fix your problem. the fan is out if your laptop is turning off. this isnt a sofware issue its hardware. your laptop turns off because the mother board has a fail safe so it wont over heat so at a specific temp it will shut down to prevent damage.

Pop the CD-ROM tray "ajar" -- i.e., just slightly open.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the battery.
Take a can of compressed-air, and give the computer a "blow-job",
to remove all caked-on dust that it providing a layer of insulation
over the "radiators" that should be radiating heat.
Squirt air into every orifice that you can find, including under the edges of the keyboard, and into the CD-ROM.

Try NOT to breathe any of the dust being expelled from your computer.

How do i install the toggel to bypass the break wire on the car video system

remember it is illegal and dangerous to drive with video on in front seat.
Not sure what model, but most likely this will work. Radio Shack will have parts.

If its for an Alpine there are 2 switches needed.
1. A toggle to simulate e brake
2. A momentary (push button-PB)simulate the regular brake.

Both switches should go to ground, if I recall. If not put 12 volts on PB switch.
Procedure is as follow press regular brake(PB) and hold. Turn toggle on off and on again, release PB.

Y/Pb/Pr outputs are green; needs

There is no calibration for the component video that I know of, check your cables you may have a bad Pr cable or the Pr/Pb ones may be mixed up.

Y (the green one) is for luminance, plug in ONLY this connector and you should see a black and white picture.

Now connect the Pr. You will now see red tones.

Now connect the Pb. And you will see blue tones.

Reverse the Pr and Pb and see what happens.

Oh and make sure you don't accidently have one plugged into a composite video or digital audio port.

Still not looking right?

Go into the input menu of the TV and change the component (or colourstream) input from RGB to Y/Pr/Pb. (most TVs do not have this feature.

Hope this helps!

Overheating PowerBook G4 17" 1.67Ghz

If you have AppleCare and your PB is less than 3 yrs old, take it in- that seems abnormal. It's really strange that your PB was heating up while it was shut down. THat indicated that there is s/thing wrong with the shutdown mechanism. Make sure the machine is hsut down before closing the lid. Let it rest a minute.
