I frequently get a scrambled picture for about a 1 to 3 seconds and the picture returns clear again. The scrambling shows text that you can barely make out. The full screen becomes a fifth of the screen on the upper left side. I was thinking that it might be a satelite signal problem any suggestions. I am on Bell express vu. non of my other tv's have this problem.

So far as I know the HLN series does not have an ATSC tuner, thus no over the air (OTA) reception. You can probably still get a $40 coupon for an OTA ATSC to NTSC converter. Note that will NOT get you high definition (HD). With Dish you can get HD receivers that do get OTA ATSC both HD and SD. With Direct, no OTA AFAIK. With cable you would need a QAM tuner, not in your TV AFAIK to get clear channels as required for locals. Otherwise cable needs a Set Top Box for digital and scrambled channels although the standard definition (SD) non-scrambled channels work with your NTSC tuner. Too bad there seem to be no ATSC to 5-cable RCA or HDMI HD converters except Dish.
there is a complete section in the tv that translate the different resolutions from the different out side video sources you normally use to the TV native resolution. That area has to be replaced. Is a module repair needed. Don't get scare. now days this kind of repair is normal and has to be included in the repair price to see if is economical to repair.
When you say horizontally, do you mean it collapse or it scrambles. Because the 2 are different problems. If you pictures shrinks or collapse then it is in the vertical circuit. and if it scrambles itself almost like you can see the picture but it is broken up over and over again, then this is video problems in video circuit.
