I already understand that it is a software bug in this phone. My son has one just like it that works correctly. If I am to change the firmware then please tell me where and/or how to get the firmware upgrade. I work with cellular experts and non of them knew were to find a fix for this.

Hi, what you need to do is one of these two things you can either go to your service providers web site and navigate your way through the site until you find the part that lets you send the text and internet settings to your phone this will then update your phone and enable it to work properly.

If however you cant find this on their site then what you need to do is contact them by phone and tell them the make and model of your phone and then ask them to send you the mms and internet settings and also the correct message center settings, they wont charge for this and they will send you them in text message format and then you just follow the instructions on the text message then this will update your phone to the correct settings and will solve your problem.

Most people have this problem when they change their sim cards to a different network provider so dont worry its a common problem so just get in touch with them and you should then have no problems.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok.

Thanks for using fixya.com

hi, sorry its been a while but i have been away working,
The only real option you have left is to take the phone to a small cell phone shop ie not a big branded one use a smaller sole traded as these are a hell of a lot cheaper than a major shop take the phone and ask them to update the firmware their will be a small charge for this but doing this will reset your phone and remove any bugs and problems your phone has.
Remember though doing this will erase everything off your phone such as pictures, ringtones, phone numbers etc so make sure you have these stored somewhere else if you plan on going a head with this procedure ok.

Hi,

This seems to be a Software Glitch. You could search the Firmware for the cell phone. I hope updating the cell phone with the Firmware would fix the issue unless you might need to seek a professional on site or send the unit for repair.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

I tried to search the Firmware Online but it is not available as you must agree that no company would like to offer yo Firmware so easily. The only option , i could suggest you , to contact the Manufacturer directly. You might need to send the unit for repair. Other than this, i do not think, there would be a 3rd option.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Yes, you will need to send a text to your operator (O2, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile etc.) to get your MMS and other settings.
You should be able to obtain the number from the operator's website by searching for "Get Settings".

Text Messages ort Calls will not open

I would definitely reset the phone, unless you can find a way to clear the text messages out before it crashes to the Main Menu. My guess is that you have a corrupted text message in your inbox, and it is crashing the software.

Resetting the phone will wipe out all of the data on it, so make sure you back it up first. If you have the Motorola Phone Tools, you may also want to try accessing the text messages or updating the phone software through it first.

Need complete recent call log and more days for text message storage

The call listing only shows one caller by design, to help with clutter on the list. It's a little funky, but if you think about scrolling through pages of the same caller just to find that number to the pizza place again, it makes sense.

If you open Messaging, you can access the settings in the menu there to increase (or set to never delete) text message life.

Please let me know if you get stuck!
