Sony DVD player color problem

My sony DVD player has started showing colors in purple and green hues. What could be the problem? Can I resolve it on my own or do I need to take it to the Sony service center?

MY PLAYER WORKS FINE BUT THERE IS NO COLOR .

My Sony DVP-NS72HP is also only showing colors in purple and green primarily. This is a new dvd player (last 3 months or so). I've gone through the manual and reset the dvd to factory settings as well.

SOURCE: Sony DVD player color problem

Safely try playing with the cable connectors on both your dvd and tv end - does it have any influence? if so, try inserting them more firmly or you might have a problem with one of the cords.

SOURCE: Sony DVD player color problem

A few weeks ago my DVD player suddenly started playing everything in black and white. I thought maybe it was the TV because it's old and the DVD player is hooked up to it thru the VCR. But I tried it on another TV and it's still black and white. Everything is plugged in correctly and I didn't change any settings or anything. Can anyone help? Or is it time to get a new DVD player?

My Sony DVD player is only showing colors in green and purple hues. Could it be a connection problem?

Yes. Could be the color signal jacks in the back. Make sure you have them plugged in properly, green for green, blue for blue, and red for red.

MY SONTY WEGA TRINITRON HAS A PURPLE HUE AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN. ALSO THE CHANNEL DISPLAY WHICH IS NORMALLY GREEN ON COLOR IS NOW A RED COLOR

Hi,
This kind of problem occurs if tv screen got hit by some thing that damage internally and its irreparable, second possible cause is magnetic field nearby screen, please check any speaker or some thing that has magnet inside around tv, remove it from tv to fix purple hue at top of screen.
Unplug tv from AC wall socket for 20-25 minutes, replug back in and turn it On, this will demagnetize screen to cure the problem.

Intermitant color bursts of red, green, purple

Kevin,

for the color problem, most likely you do have problem with loose contact of components from C-board ( small board connected at the back of CRT "picture tube" which drives every color and size of the screen)if you have knowledge with soldering electronic component parts, resolder this board and also check main board for possible loose contact.

cheers,
mark

Color convergance

The green hue (I had it too) is a result of the optical block failing.
Sony has extended their warranty (regardless of the purchase date). see link

Sony DVD player color problem

All These units need servicing, They all are having problems with the video output circuit. It could be a coupling capacitor or the video chip itself heating up and distorting the output after short playing periods. This may be a simple fix of changing the output coupling capacitors. But it also may be some internal distortion in the chip. These unit need to be tested on a oscilloscope and check out in the video out input section to look for possible component failures. You should contact a service center that will test your unit and give you an evaluation of the cost effectiveness of a repair. Hope this helps you with your problems.
