The "ATI HD 4850 X2" was working for about a 3 month. I turned off my computer one night and the next morning my computer would not boot. I went back to the old card and everything worked fine. The old card is a "NVIDIA GEFORCE 9400GT 512MB DDR2 PCI-E"

I installed the 4850 x2 about 3 months ago no problems. Turned the computer off and the next morning my computer would not boot. I swapped cards and the old card the "NVIDIA GEFORCE 9400GT 512MB DDR2 PCI-E" fired up without a hitch. E 9400GT 512MB DDR2 PCI-E NVIDIA GEFORC

When you installed the 4850x2, I'm assuming you put it in a PCIe slot and hooked up the power to the card. What kind of "old" card are you using?

The motherboard will work with a Radeon graphics card as long as it is a PCI-E card. Your problem is more likely to be either a weak PSU or a badly fitted CPU. make sure the CPU fan is connected and runs at switch on and that you have used thermal paste on the CPU/heatsink mating face. Then check your PSU is serviceable. You can get a PSU tster for a few pounds or dollars form most online computer parts suppliers.

After the most recent HP update, my ATI 4850 now has registry issues. It no longer recognizes my second monitor and the PC only allows for basic video settings. Here is what appears when I run a check...

Yoy can find the sections in the registry with regedit from the 'run' command. That takes experienced users to deal with. Alternatively, use the device manager in 'System' and delete the display device. On re-booting it will go through the found hardware wizard and re-load the drivers.

Graphics Card will not work

I have the same card, do you have the proper PSU installed?
I'm thinking you may not have improper wattage for that card.
You'll need a 450W or higher for the card to work properly.

Unplug your computer and hit the power button to get rid of the juice.
Open the left panel and look at the power supply. It will show the wattage.
If it's 450W or above, post a comment and I will help you further.
It could be the directx isn't up to date, but still there shouldn't be lines in it.
Try cleaning the connections and make sure they're tightened first.
Turn off the on-board VGA via the BIOS setup. Restart the computer hit DEL upon startup and look through your settings, turn that feature off. As I don't know your motherboard, I can't tell you where to look in your BIOS.
Here are the specs for your card as well, make sure they match your computer.

Radeon HD 4850. I get a blue screen every time I turn my PC on. It says something `atikmdag.sys` and it's counting to 100 and then the computer restarts. This blue screen it only happens after I install...

Blue screens are software related errors. You would need to try to start the PC in protected mode and remove the drivers from the registry and/or the startup. If possible, run the system restore and put it back to a prior date before you tried installing the drivers. It's possible you may have a card that will not work with your system.

Can't get my dual graphics cards to work

1. Turn all of your 3D settings to 4x.
2. Go to BIOS and turn your AGP aperture size to 256 MB
3. Increase the virtual memory size to the double of the physical system memory (set it to 1024 MB in case of 512 MB system memory, Control Panel \ System \ Advanced \ Performance - Settings \ Advanced \ Virtual Memory - Change, select the hard drive, choose Custom, and enter into both fields 1024, then Set, OK and reboot)
4. Lower the hardware acceleration in Windows with one stop (Control Panel \ Display \ Settings \ Advanced \ Troubleshoot \ Hardware Acceleration).

If you still not be able to fix it, I suggest you to go to this site http://www.foxpop.com/imre/2005/vpurecover/vpurecover.html
Yuo might want to use ATI's driver too.
