First, go into Control Panel, select System then Device Manager.
Scroll down to see Universal Serial Bus Controllers. It should look something like this...

Not recognice by usb hard

A USB hard drive is a portable external storage device that works just like a conventional hard drive.

The device is simply plugged into a USB port on your computer as you would connect a flash drive.

Unlike a flash drive, however, a USB hard drive can store a much larger amount of data.

If your computer will not recognize your USB hard drive, you can try troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem.

Plug one end of the USB cable into the port on your hard drive and plug the other end into the USB port of your computer. Ensure that both ends of the cable are connected securely.

Open "My Computer" (Windows XP) or "Computer" (Windows Vista/7).

The USB device should be listed as "removable disk" once it is plugged into the computer.

If it is not listed among the available drives on your computer, proceed to the next step.

Ensure that the data cable is working properly.

Try another USB cable if you have one available.

Disconnect all other USB devices from the computer as they may interfere with the operating system detecting the external hard drive.

Reboot the computer if the USB hard drive is still not recognized.

Plug the USB cable into another USB port and check to see if the device is detected.

If you are using a USB hub, remove the device and plug the external hard drive directly into a USB port.

If the computer still fails to recognize the device, the external hard drive itself may be experiencing a hardware problem.

Check the status of the hard drive in the "Device Manager" window. Under Windows XP, right click "My Computer" and select "Device Manager."

For Windows Vista and Windows 7, click the "Windows" button in the lower left corner of the screen, then type "Computer Management" in the search bar and press "Enter."

Select "Device Manager" in the "Computer Management" window. In the Device Manager window, click the "+" sign that appears beside "Disk Drives."

If the external drive is not listed, click "Other Devices" in the Device Manager window and see if an "Unknown Device" appears.

The external hard drive may have been detected but the device is not working properly.

If it is still under warranty, take the device to the computer store where it was purchased to have it repaired or replaced.

Hope this helps

Can't turn on my mp3 player. I have tried to hold the volume buttom but it does not turn on at all.

what type of mp3 player ?

Charge your MP3 player.

The battery might just be dead, in which case letting it charge for a few hours corrects the problem.

Plug the USB data cable into the USB port on the MP3 player and insert the other end into one of the USB ports on your computer.

In a moment, the computer states that it has detected the removable device.

Sometimes the MP3 player needs to update itself, and it can only do so while connected to a computer.

When the MP3 player detects the computer, it attempts to connect to the Internet and retrieve any system updates available for the device.

Replace the battery.

The battery is usually the first part of the MP3 player to go (especially after excessive use). Although you can manually change the battery on most MP3 players, you need to send your

Apple products (iPod, iPod Nano, iPod Touch, iPhone) into the company so they can change the battery for you.

Purchase a new MP3 player.

If your MP3 player has received any sort ofwater damage, it is not going to turn on at all and there is nothing you can do to fix the issue.

hope this helps

I can't download pictures to my computer error message says cannot detect camera

It may be a USB port issue or a USB cable issue. Try an alternate cable or a different USB port. Try other USB devices on those same ports to make sure they work. Try using a USB card reader to transfer photos from the card directly instead of plugging in your camera directly.

Usb ports not working

Go into the bios and check to make sure the usb ports are enabled if that is an option. Reboot the computer and notice the screen to see which key it says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup. Hit the key and look through the bios for settings that affect the USB ports.

If you computer recognized the devices in the past it should recognize them now unless the drivers are messed up or missing, or the ports have gone bad.

If you are using usb devices that you have not used before on the computer then try one of your old usb devices that you have used before on the computer. It could be that the new usb devices are too advanced for the system. Some old systems for example can't read or detect a 1TB usb external drive.

If the usb device came with drivers, install the drivers.

My web cam does work at all and does not turn on

Plug in your webcam thru the usb cable and see if your computer detects it? If it doesn't detect it then the camera is bad and you'll need to replace it. Other thing you can try is hooking up the camera to another computer. If it detects it on another computer then you might have a usb port problem on your original laptop or a windows problem.
Also if your camera is detected on another computer then install the software for it and see if its useable.

When you plug-in the camera into the USB port, what is the message?
Do you see any pop-up on the lower right hand side of the screen?

Usually the pop-up is "Device is ready to use" or USB device unrecognized if the USB is not recognized
try the camera to other USB port

Sir i purchased hitachi camera pen. it is detected

If you have installed the program. Uninstall it.

Unplug the pen (or any devices associated with it) from the computer.

1. Insert Disc and intstall the program.

2. When prompted, insert the device into the computer as instructed. Follow all instructions.

3. Once installed, remove disc, restart computer.

4. The computer will detect the device as the computer is loading. Wait for all "start up" programs to load, then select the program and it should open and operate.

If it is plugged into a USB Port, and is not being detected, try using another port. Do not plug such utilities into a Port Adapter, as it most likely will not be detected.

It must be plugged directly into a USB Port installed on the computer (or laptop).

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
