Have you checked the internal terminal block(inside the unit where power enters) they burn off due to hi current draw, then ALL the neutral power connections in the unit and ALL thermal switches and the cycling heat switch, then it could possibly be your control panel

Ge Gtup270EMww dryer will not start. washer works just fine

If you can hear the motor running, and the drum not turning, it could be the belt. I would check the wall outlet to make sure that you are getting 220 volts, not just 110 volts. After this, the parts are possibilities get more complex and more expense, i.e. circuit board, timer, or motor, and it would probably pay to get a repairman in rather than just trying to change parts.

Electric dryer will not heat on any setting

Hello, when a dryer does not heat one of the first things that you would do is check the outlet to assure that you do have 110 on each side of the outlet going into the unit. If you do then you now know the dryer has the proper amount of electricity going to the unit. If you only had 110 on one side then the dryer would not heat. In order to test the following parts you will need a multimeter and unplug the dryer. There are a couple of easy to test parts that you will need to perform a continuity test on or an ohms test to assure that these parts are working properly. After you provide the make and the model number I will instruct you if you need on how to take apart your dryer and depending on which dryer you have and that you do have a multimeter I will also be instructing you on how to test each part. NOTE BEFORE TESTING ANY PARTS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER!! The parts that you would be testing are the hi limit and low limit thermistor as well as the heater and before you test each of these you have to remove one of the wires attaching to one of the sides of each part. In some units such as whirlpool, kenmore, maytag, roper have a run thermistor that when they short stops the heater from working. I will await your reply as to the model number and make and if you have access to a multimeter.
Thank you

Dryer will not start door is closed

Carefully check your 220 outlet. You can check a 220 buy a volt meter. Make sure your volt meter is set over 220 range and put the red lead into the slot and black lead into the L shape. It could be you are not getting 220 power out of your outlet. We all know on a 220 outlet both legs have 110 on each side. A dryer takes 110 for the motor, and takes 110 for elements.

Dryer won't start - how do I trouble-shoot to determine if its the switch or something more complicated?

First trouble shooting is to make sure you are getting 220 to the outlet not 110; We all know that on a 220 outlet there is 110 on each side and if you are not getting 110 from each side, the dryer motor won't turn on. If you are getting 220, then try manual start. Hold in on the door switch and push the start switch. If that don't work then it is the motor.

Control Button Issues

My two year old unit would not do anything, but lights on. Then they would go off, and nothing but opening the door would get them on again. Replaced electronic panel in Feb. 2008, under warranty, still cost $80. Worked until first of June, 2008. Ordered a new panel. Repairman suggested that the wall outlet may be defective, even though the lights were on. The Unit also would have the lights come on by themselves. Outlet replaced, dryer worked fine. We still replaced the panel board, as repairman was not sure exactly what was the problem. I was told that the panel costs about $300.

Check the terminal block and make sure you're getting 220. If you only get 110, the dryer will run but without heat.

Kenmore 110.64732400 Electric Dryer No Heat - Won't Shut Off

The stepper motor in those timers are prone to giving favorable readings when checked and go back to acting fruity when left to themselves. It's a sticking problem. Try taking the back off the control timer, usually you bend some tangs that hold it on straight, being careful not to overstress them and check the contact points. If they are burnt even slightly then take a file or emory cloth to them, making sure you keep them straight, don't round the corners. Then put the switch back on the head housing without the back on and plug back in. DO NOT TOUCH BACK OF TIMER WHILE PLUGGED IN. Run it through a cycle and see if the motor binds up. It may take a couple of times for it to do it if it's going to. If this doesn't work, then get back to me.

Brand new Kenmore Front load won't work

It sounds like the plug is mis-wired. The panel works off of 110v but the rest is 220v. If one line is swapped with the ground you will get 110 only.
