Question about Canon 200mm f/4 FD Lens

1 Answer

My 80-200 sigma with FD mount won't stop down.It used to work fine. I discovered the problem when I mounted it through an adapter to my T1i. I then pulled out my F1 and had the same problem. Both levers are free but have no effect.

Can I buy an adapter to use the 28-200 mm Sigma Aspherical lens fitted to my nikon d5000 camera

That depends on the lens. Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. If the lens has a Nikon mount then you don't need an adapter at all.

Since the Nikon lens mount has a deeper flange depth than other mounts, you cannot fit a lens with another mount onto a Nikon body without losing the ability to focus to infinity. Because of this, you won't find an adapter for another mount. Adapters are available to fit Nikon lenses onto other cameras but not the other way around.

Lens mount fit

None directly. The T90 was the last Canon camera to use the older FD lenses. All newer Canon SLRs, film and digital, use the EF mount. However, by using an adapter such as http://www.rakuten.com/prod/adorama-canon-fd-lens-to-eos-body-adapter-with-correction-glass/216466533.html?listingId=120668308, you can use the old lenses on any Canon digital SLR.

Does my Sigma 28-105 mm Aspherical for film camera work on my Canon 5D Mark III?

If the Sigma lens mount is a Canon FD fitting then you can get an adapter FD to EF that will allow you to use the old lens in manual mode. If your camera isn't designed to take EF-s lenses then they will not fit on the camera. My EF-s lenses will not fit on my 6D.

Is it possible to convert a sigma lens to fit a canon body or by using an m42 adapter?

Sigma makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. If the lens has a Canon or M42 mount then there is no problem. If it has a Minolta mount, for example, then replacing the lens will be easier and just as cheap as changing the mount. If it has Nikon mount, you can buy adapters to fit it to Canon or M42 bodies.

Are the lenses from AE-1 slr cameras interchangable with a rebel t1i

No. They use totally different mounting system; FD on the AE-1 and EOS on the later autofocus models.

Adapters are not possible unless you're prepared to lose the ability to focus on distant objects, and even then the lens would only work as a dumb piece of glass as adapters do not transmit any information between the lens and camera and do not operate any of the mechanical lens couplings.

Sigma lens APO170-500mm to fit on SLR camera body

Sigma makes lenses with a variety of mounts to fit a variety of cameras. A lens with a Canon mount won't fit onto a Nikon camera, for example. Assuming the lens has the proper mount for your camera, it should fit fine.

Sigma 70-210mm f/4-5.6 UC II compatible with Canon 10D and Nikon D7000?

It depends on the lens mount. Sigma makes varieties of their lenses for different camera mounts. A lens with a Canon mount will be compatible with any current Canon camera. A lens with a Nikon mount will be compatible with a Nikon camera. Any one lens can fit one but not the other.

Where can i buy a Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DL Macro AF Lens mount adapter for a canonEOS 500D

You can't, not as far as I know.

Getting functionally useful adaptors from any other brand to Canon EOS is difficult as the register distance from the sensor to the lens is the deepest of all current lens mounts. Adaptors therefore require expensive optical correction in order to preserve infinity focus ability and given that the adapted lens will still be substantially crippled most owners aren't prepared to pay for such an adaptor. In any case, the additional optical elements will reduce optical quality.

Due to similar electronics, it is possible to physically convert a Sigma mount lens to EOS by fitting an EOS lens bayonet but it's a skilled job requiring fabrication skills and even then there's no guarantee that the lens will communicate correctly with all EOS bodies. In practice, due to the scarcity of Sigma mount lenses the conversion is usually the other way around.

Answer to your question is, ‘Yes’ we can. Use Sigma FD lenses.

As we know Canon AV-1 has electronically controlled AE (Automatic Exposure) & has a Canon Breech-lock lens mount.

Original generation of FD lenses featured a silver locking ring at the base. Only that locking ring turns to lock the lens to the camera body; the lens body remains still.

In the newer lens system which was introduced with this camera, the user has to line up the red dot on the lens, with the red dot on the camera and simply turned the whole lens clockwise until it clicked into place.

Note: FD-mount cameras could use FL lenses in stop-down metering mode.

Thank you & have a nice day.

Warm regards,
William
