When I turn the TV on...the green power light blinks more times than normal (15 times) and you see a dim flash then nothing but the green power light is on. No sound and none of the buttons work. and it will remain that way for as long as it is plugged in. This all started about a week ago. I just turned it on again to see how many blinks and counted 15.....5 minutes later the tv comes on.

I told EVERYONE not to turn it off.

I have a Monster power surge protector

    What's my problem?

    Thank you

It seems most likely that the problem is either the backlight itself or the power supply board .

If you get sound and there is no picture then it could be issue with the back light inverter

However, if there's no "glow" around the edges when the picture is black, then i am sure that it is issue with the backlight, changing the backlight should solve your issue.

If there is an indication of the backlight working ("glow") then the problem could be anywhere in the video circuitry that drives the panel

If you dont get even sound and the unit is completely dead after switching on, here is the solution

A blown internal fuse would cause things to appear completely dead. It is not intended to be user serviced. If you do find a blown fuse, never replace it with a larger size. Using an oversized fuse may cause additional damage.

If the same size blows again there is some sort of fault, typically something like a shorted diode, electrolytic capacitor, or switching transistor.

There could be more than one fuse. Sometimes there is one on the AC power coming in, and one or more on various outputs from the main power supply. The AC line fuse may fail simply from a nasty surge coming down the power line. Other fuses usually blow from internal faults.

If your TV is completely dead you have to check the fuse, or i f you get any color indiaction on your LED, like colir changing from green to red etc, please leave it as comment, we may solve your issue

I had the same issue with 2 of these sets. It ended up being 2 capacitors were bad on the power supply. They are located towards the bottom of the board, you can visually see they were buldging and leaking slightly. I replaced them with 2 capcitor of same values and the tv works as it did before....

Please try this and leave me comment

Bad power supply for LG "37" flat screen

Replace the power supply board as card basis. It will be best, rather than making "Surgery' to it, and to waste time and money. It can be bought from the authorized service center for LG. After replacement, certain adjustments should be done. If you wish to get more details, check this link. Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

Is it cracked? = needs new screen
If not, you could get luck reseating the cables internally (unplug and replug).. some are fragile but sometimes reseating cables will fix these issues..
