Question about MSI PM8M-V Motherboard

1 Answer

I have MS-7142 mobo. The memory slots will hold (2) 1gb memory sticks. I have installed Samsung K4H510838B-TCCC memory (PC3200). When the machine boots the memory says it is running at 333 mhz (PC2700). When I run diagnostics it recognizes the memory as being (2) 1 gb memory sticks and it is PC3200. What is the boot issue?

Memory pc3200 ddr 400

With many mobos (motherboards) you must place a single stick in a certain slot in order for the mobo to post. In my Asrock it is the #2 slot for a single stick. If I put it in the other slot the computer will not post. Try moving your stick to the other slot and reboot.

How much ram can I install on my Averatec 2200?

The ram maxes out at 2GB. There is only one memory slot, so you would need a 2GB memory stick. Hope this helps.

I have an emachine T5026. Emachine tech swears this machine only supports pc2700 ram but the stickers on the factory installed ram says pc3200 256mb x 2 so i bought 2 memory masters pc3200 1gb x 2 sticks....

PC3200 is backwards compatible with PC2700. Meaning you can install PC3200 into your motherboard but it won't run any faster than would PC2700, however it will not cause any harm and should work fine.

Emachine's would say you need PC2700 most likely because they're trying to sell you some.

One of your new memory modules or the memory slots on your computer may be defective. I recommend installing a single stick of memory and booting your system. If it is successful then shut it down, disconnect the power and install another stick. Boot again and keep doing so and by process of elimination identify the bad memory stick or the bad memory slot.

This is the "likely" cause and isn't too uncommon.

Good luck.

Install DDR-DIMM PC3200 to MS-6367 MSI

That motherboard was made for PC2100 DDR266. A PC3200 DIMM *SHOULD* be backward compatible. Depending on the density of the PC3200 memory you might have problems. If you have not bought the memory yet I would go with the PC2100 for sure since the PC3200 will give you no speed gains at all and will be running at PC2100 speeds anyway.

If you already have the PC3200 memory then I would say just give it a shot. The worse case scenario is your machine will not boot up with the higher speed ram installed. Assuming you take all the normal hardware upgrade care and do not physically break anything you can test this memory with no harm to your motherboard.

MS 7142 TO INCREASE RAM

hiya

its a case of purchasing the new ram modules taking the old ram out and popping the new ram in

i wud recommend using OCZ, GEIL or Crucial memory modules as these are the best makes

the spped of the ram varies from system to system depending on the system bus speed
the most common speeds for this board is pc2100, pc2700 and pc3200
these speeds are as follows pc2100 - ddr200
pc2700 - ddr333 and pc3200 - ddr400

hope this helps

Asus K8N-dl - second processor present but not running...

Hi, Mistyman here. All Asus mother boards that have dual channel RAM slot must have equal ram in each slot. In most cases the paired slots are matched by color for easy ID, some are identified by a printed ID on the mother board. With your board you will have to have run all of your RAM for the one CPU. If you have only one stick this must be in slot one. If you are using two sticks then utilise the dual chanel system that ASUS have and use A1 & A3. To activate the second CPU you will need to install matching sticks of RAM in the B slots. both cpu's will need to have the value of RAM to work together properly. CPU one = slot A for RAM CPU two = Slot B for RAM. Goodluck, the ASUS boards are a value product.

Memory for the D4362

Your system may have 2 slots for SDRAM and 2 slots for DDR Ram, and must not be mixed, either use only DDR DDR2 or SDRAM. The mobo may only take 2 of the same size sticks e.g 2 x 1GB,or 2 x 256MB, so be carefull as you may waste money on a non recognised peice of ram. If you use a pc3200 and a pc2700 stick it will run at the slower speedof pc2700. Some boards will only allow a certain maximum of ram up to pc3200 speed and then adding any more you will have to run at pc2700 speed. The crucial memory site will be best for advice on memory type allowance and speed.
